CFMoto/Qlink seems to be built much better that a typical "China scoot". 11k on mine...needed rollers, that's about it. Previous owner damaged the front master cylinder, but that is hardly CFM's fault.

As far as I can see, ALL Italian scooters (and motorcycles) are top-notch. And they can often be found at affordable prices! Do try to test-ride as many types as possible. I found that among all the great scooters out there, they vary in "feel" and performance SO much that some may be "OK" and others marginal for your needs, and some are just PERFECT! Go for the perfect one! Leo

Leo's right. Riding different models is the very best way to see which one(s) fit you best.
Don't go all girl about this and just buy the one that you've fallen for. I'm lucky that I fit mine, and it fits me, 'cause when I pulled into VanWall's parking lot there it was and I knew that was the one I wanted. But if the seat was 1" taller, or the floorboard a little wider, I'd be on my toes instead of the front half of my feet. It's still not ideal (you really want to sit flat-footed at stops). And some day when I've spare money, I can get the floorboard replaced with the new style that has cutaway sides. If my car ever quits spending that spare money for me, grrr.
The dealer had me try the little Vespa first. I will never get a small-wheeled scooter. Not comfortable driving, felt like a drunk, had no control. But my big-wheeled boy was just fine first time. Total difference. However, there's folks here that love small-wheeled scoots, love how nimble they are, would never get a big-wheeled scoot. Riding different models is the best way to determine what fits your tastes as well as your body.
As for the Appy, yeah, they're good. They're Piaggio and Italian and yes, they've very good. Rocky can wax enthusiastic for you about his. See if you can find a Piaggio Fly--older ones had big wheels, I think the newer ones are midsize now.

My 2012 Tomos Twister 50 is a quality scoot IMHO and it has 16 inch wheels which smooth the ride over the potholes in the spring of the year.

This is going to be a tough decision lol from what i have read, aprillia is a very good scooter if not the best. those little 50cc will go 50mph stock after restrictor is removed. think it's restricted electronically and can be removed with a gameboy (if i'm not mistaken).

Aprilia is a great brand but expensive . The SR 50 has EFI and would need the ECU remapped to really be a screamer . CFMoto is another great brand but they quit making scooters except a 250cc as they now have motorcycles in their line up . I have had Hondas and so far they have all loved me and are far better than the China scoots . Even their 50s are pricey and their 150s are waaaaay over priced . Avoid the Metropolitan as it is slow not really and aftermarket selection of parts . A used Spree or Elite with a 2T engine would be good . Yamaha I love the Zuma with its fat tires and 2T engine . My dealer has a custom one that is a wheelie machine . I have a Jonway Magnum which its parent company is Sheike ( something like that ) and it is quite good but I have read where others were not as lucky as me . Note mine is a 2T not a 4T like most . Avoid TaoTao as I had an ATMa 50 and man what a . I was used to 2ts and I hated it . Rode bad , headlight was barely a candle , cracked the piston on day 2 and blew up it 6 weeks later . I had to put an aftermarket piston kit since I had two go sour . I have had 30 or so two wheelers and NEVER once had a piston problem . Peace Sports is another cheap brand like TaoTao . TGB makes a fine line of scoots TGBGenuine is great too as they offer a 2 year warranty like Kymco and CFMoto do Genuine Most China scoots may have a limited dealer warranty from only 30 days to 6 months . You can pay the extra up front for a good scooter ( best option IMO ) or get a cheap one and install several mods to make it perform better and be more reliable than out of the crate You may find a deal on a used scooter on Craigslist or here used scooters

So far I'm loving my BMS
Retrobrian,
Cheesh... Who WOULDN'T love something that looks THAT cool? If it's HALF as good as it LOOKS, you'll be a happy camper! Something about fifties' styling and wide-whites that's just irresistible! It looks like it could speak fluent Italian... No matter what country it was "born" in... LOL!
Ride safe!

The wheel-size, floorboard (or hump) length/wheelbase and weight all make more difference than I could have ever imagined! In my case, the outdated Kymco Grandvista has often been "dissed" as being designed for somebody "over 6-feet tall, with short legs". Hmmm... Right on the money! And I'm over 6' with short legs! See, I'm THE one guy the danged thing was made for! Just took 7 years for old "Minnie Mouse" to find me.Having ridden motorcycles for decades, I find scooters probably vary even MORE in their designs. You REALLY need to try them all if you want to get the best one for YOUR needs... And, if it speaks to you in Italian, that's cool too! Ride safe!Leo

Say gizmo, how about giving little reviews/impressions as you go? Doesn't have to be anything massive. Just something like "Test drove a (brand/model) today, fit like this, rode like this." You know, sort of bring us along on your shopping. I for one am interested, esp since I sort of skipped the whole comparing part. And it could be helpful to others who are new to scoots and wondering what's the diff between bikes.
