Hello,
I ride an Icebear Zodiac 2013. I put it up for storage in November 2013, did not realize there was a carb drain hose, so not drained.
Last month tried to start and see gas gushing out of a port on the outside of the carburetor.
I understand this could be a stuck float or needle valve so carburetor is removed and inspected. Thank you Icebear, the carburetor bowl assembly is fastned on with recessed screws and snap off heads; no way to remove the float assembly.
Tried to shoot carb cleaner inside bowl and shake and tap and invert, etc. No dice, carb still pees gas when running or cranking.
I have ordered a new carb, is ther any other possible fix here?
Thanx,

Where is the gas coming out of? Alleyoop

If the gas is coming out of the OVERFLOW hose then YES the FLOAT is stuck and not closing OR there is crud in the hole and it is not stopping the fuel from coming in when the bowl is full. You can get BACK out bit and back out those screws on bowl and then replace them with your own screws.
If the gas is coming out of the DRAIN HOSE then the screw next to it needs to be tightened or if the drain hose has a screw on the end of the drian hose that needs to be tightened. Alleyoop

Yes, thanx. Fuel is shooting out of overflow. The bowl drain has a screw on the end of the hose, no leak there.
Cannot back out screws at all, the screw fastener is completely countersunk into a cast-in vein in the bowl housing. The screw head was designed to snap off when when tightened, so there is no place where the fastener projects above the housing, it is a one way assembly.
I am not sure I could get a hole drilled straight enough to use an easy-out, these screws are pretty small and the carburetor is not too easily anchored in a drill press.
I was hoping there might be some voo-doo technique or fluid or secret incantation that could be executed without disassembling the carb.
Very frustrating.
Thanx alleyoop.

Since you cannot run like that, I would get an easy out or Drill them out and retap the holes, much cheaper and if you ruin it nothing lost except you know have spare parts. But I know you can do it many have run into that problem and used easy outs and got new screws. Alleyoop

OK, I got the new carb today. It looks exactly like the carb on the Icebear, except it has a removable float bowl and there is a screw valve to close the float drain. I am thinking I will leave the bowl drain valve open and use the existing line that has the valve at the end of the hose. Can drain the bowl much easier.
Now, anyone have any suggestions on how to get this new carburetor adjusted. I thought I would set the adjustment screws like the existing carb as a starting point. Any suggestions on technique much appreciated. It looks like there are only 2 adjustments, idle speed and fuel ratio, or are there other hidden adjustments?

All set and rolling again.
Ground off the bolt heads and popped the bowl off. The float needle valve had white crud around it, just enough to cause it to hang up in the brass fitting. It was just starting to get crusty, but easily removable. Also white crud in the bottom of the bowl. Cleaned up the float valve, and then put the bowl from the new carb on the old carb and re-installed. Running perfectly, s exactly like last year, no need for any adjustments, I like that.
Thanx to all for your assistance.
