So I've been scouring google and youtube, and even these forums to try to find any advice in removing/replacing a crank. I've found three videos, all of which show someone using a special tool to remove this "reverse thread castle nut." I'm going to need to pull a crank from a "junk" scooter tomorrow, as well as the crank from my own scoot, and I'm afraid that there's no way it'll happen without this "clutch nut removal tool" that's being sold specifically for the job. Here's a link to what I'm talking about: www.ebay.com/itm/SCOOTER-150CC-GY6-Starter-Clutch-Nut-Removal-Tool-/310919399397or www.ebay.com/itm/SCOOTER-150CC-GY6-Starter-Motor-Clutch-NUT-TOOL-/191101132163 Is there any way at all around ordering this tool? Any possible tricks or substitute tools for the job? I suppose I could pay my local shop to do the job for me but I mean I'll end up paying like $50 the way these guys like to rip folks off, even if I bring my engine in and torn down to where all they have to do is remove that one nut, they're going to charge me for an hour of service... -Outbak

On another note, my trip to the new scooter/motorcycle section of our local salvage yard was a total success, I got me a pretty good replacement GY6, the whole engine for $35!!! Came of course, with the stator and flywheel, and CDI. The engine was complete and has good compression. Another $10 for the rear wheel and tire (which was in decent shape) and shock, $5 for a new set of rear view mirrors, total in all, $50 spent. Not a bad haul, eh?

To get that NUT off holding the starter clutch without the tool you can put a Screw Driver in one of the slots and bang it loose and the same when putting it back on to tighten. Alleyoop
