I bought a little FREEDOM scooter for my daughter. I believe it is around 47cc...when I bought it the guy said it would only run when choke was on 3/4. So I was going you guys could help me out a bit.
I have just got into playing around with these scooters...so I'm soaking up a much knowledge as I can. I appreciate it.

I will start by saying that I'm no mechanic but have been learning a lot from this forum on making my scooter run. If your scooter needs that much choke, it means that it is starving for fuel, or it has a air leak some where between the air filter to the carb to where the fuel enters the motor. Check to see that a good fuel flow from the tank to the carb. If the flow is good then the jets may be clogged in the carb. Carb needs to be cleaned. If it still needs choke then check for air leaks between air filter and carb. May as well check the valve clearance too. It may sound like it is beyond your ability, but hey, we all had to learn, and it can be fun. I may get flamed by the seniors for stepping in to early, but this forum has good information if you have the time.

Yeah I am more of a car guy and these small engines are same concept...I have learned a whole lot in the past week by scanning thru everything.
I cleaned the carb yesterday and today I Will be putting her back together....so hopefully I will havetook care of it. Thought I would see if any other ideas would come up......so I will be checking for an air leak THANKS

Yeah, Im thinking clogged jet, vacuum lead or bad idle adjustment. If you are a car guy, the concepts are the same, just on a way smaller scale. Small vacuum leaks, or plugged jets make a way bigger difference then they do on cars. Make sure all your vac lines are in good shape and all hooked up.
Is this the kind of scoot with the weed whacker motor on it?

Is this one of those little Freedom gas scooters that do about 15mph? They have motors like you would find on lawnmowers and weedwackers and the carbs are different than you would find on a regular scoot.
Take a picture of the carb on it. They have carbs that are different than what you find on your regular scoots. But the carb should have a idle speed screw usually with a spring on the screw and it should have another screw to control either the AIR or FUEL volume coming in.
If it has an Air volume adjustment it could just be that to much air is being let in , in which case you turn the screw Clockwise to take away some air. Or if its a Fuel volume then it could be not enough fuel is being let in, in which case you turn it Counter Clockwise to allow more fuel. Alleyoop

I appreciate the advice...AND YES IT IS A WEED WACKER MOTOR...i figured my daughter could handle 12 -17 mph. I cleaned the carb and every crick and cranny received heavy spray. I adjusted the air/fuel screw and she fired right up. I appreciate it
Now i am back to getting my gy6 to run like a top!!!
