Hi folks, sorry I haven't posted in a while. Here's my latest issue. I swapped my speedometer assembly for one that reads in mph instead of kph. This new one has the smaller fuel gauge located between the speedo and tach, and it doesn't appear to be working at all. The old speedo had the large fuel gauge on the right side of the pod. Do I need a different sending unit now with this new one? By the way, the old fuel gauge will still work if I attach the plug to it. Second, I now have a tachometer where I didn't have one before, and I don't see any wiring from the harness to connect to it. There's a small black plastic cylinder that looks sorta like an old 35 mm film box with a plug going to it, not sure what it does. It attaches to the loop at the top of the speedo. Any thoughts on how to get the tach working? There are 3 wires coming from it. Last, I have several indicator lights in the dash that are burned out. One of them is the left turn signal indicator, Where can I get replacement dash backlights? Thanks for your help, guys. I would be lost without this forum.
Regards,
Tim Dixon

Can someone delete this post? Clearly I am not part of this group's clique. Great forum.

Put up some pictures of what you have and the back of the instrument panel you got. Reason nobody is chiming in is because they do not know anything about your problem. Most folks on here are not to into electrics also would help if you mention what scoot you have so we can possibly find a wiring diagram for it. Alleyoop

You have more than a few mechanics and engineers on this site. Instant replies don't happen on sites that only have a limited number of members. Photos get attention. If we can see it we can understand your issue, and help with it.
How you work a forum is up to you, but providing information first, and asking questions later works best. Photos cut through all the BS. If someone sees your problem, they will chime in.
Your call, but no forum is instant access, and not all of the info is vetted. Go forward through the fog...

And there's no clique. The help, and knowledge I've received here has allowed me to keep my scooter. Mainly because, no one works on these around here, so it's up to me. After some "rookie" mistakes it really doesn't take too long to get the hang of it, and save yourself time and money. I will add, I found a mechanic who will work on my bike, but his prices are too high, and inconsistent. For example, he charged me $ , just to rejet my carb. I can now do it in about 30 minutes.

korn858 bucks for a rejet isn't out of the question, at least for my shop. Sometimes there is a lot of tuning that comes from re-jetting, especially if you need to do a plug chop or set the pin to get it right. I've charged 100 bucks for it when I should of charged 200. It's got to leave my shop right. Even if it takes all day. tndixonAs for the speedo, we need more info. Many of these parts and harnesses are not universal while many others are. One on the places that they do differ quite a bit is the clusters. We need to know what scoot you have and what you are trying to put in it. Also, I didn't see this post until this morning. Sometimes i'm on a few times a day, sometimes, only a few times during the week. It's the same for many of the membership (or masochistic order of scooter mechanics if you prefer). This is a hobby for most of us.

No, he charged $ to change the jet. Another $200 to adjust the needle. This is how he broke down the bill to me.
