Is it ok to start and run your scooter with a battery tender Jr. plugged in?

It should be ok to start however you generally would remove it once the engine is running.

It should be ok, but there is always that one chance where the starting process could draw to much current etc etc and kill it. I used to always run a battery tender on mine but I unplugged it before I started it. I actually hooked up a cord from the battery to under the seat and put an s plug on it so when I pulled in the garage and shut it off I just flipped up the seat and plugged the float charger to it. 11 pole upgrade solved the need for that.

The instructions on mine say not to start the scoot with float charger attached. It cost me $20, works fine. No need for me to kill it.
I have a cord that came with the charger that has battery spring connectors on one end and the proper connection to my battery lead from the float charger. If I need more juice I use a small auto battery. Works great.

I'm thinking you want to mount the battery tender on your scooter? Then you just get home and plug her in?
If the above is the case, I don't believe that would be an issue, since the unplugged charger is an incomplete circuit, but I'm not positive.

I've wondered this myself, every time I've started up in the winter. I've always unplugged, just 'cause common sense told me it was probably the right thing to do. But the laziness in me has kept wondering if I couldn't just start, run a bit, turn off and hop off and go in the house, with two less steps involved. Looks like common sense will continue to win here. >'Kat

I don't see what it would hurt but was wondering why would you want to?
I have a regular Battery Tender, (1 1/4 amp), and left it on my scooter a couple of winters ago and it burned out the battery. Got a Jr. from Ebay for $20.00 and now leave it on during the winter and it keeps the battery up great.

Its been raining here a lot, so I wanted to just start it and let it run for a few minutes. Just wondering if not unplugging it would hurt either the tender, or the charging system. To be safe I'll just unplug it. Not a big deal to unplug it, just wondering.
