I've recently replaced the headlights on my Jonway YY250T and would like to share the experience. I have previously worked on replacing the bulbs on my scooter with LED bulbs. I've replaced the Taillight, License Plate Light, Running Lights, and Instrument Cluster lights with LEDs that are very bright but use less power than the original incandescent bulbs. This left me with a surplus on the charging system to use toward "Other Upgrades". In this case, brighter headlights! The factory 35W BA20D-style headlight bulbs are poor. Brightness is low which reduces visibility to other drivers, while the reduced brightness makes morning/evening/night driving impossible. One of my bulbs had the low-beam element broken and it needed to be replaced anyway. I purchased a pair of replacement compatible bulbs from an overseas dealer, but they had manufacturing defects that rendered them useless for this application. On tearing the front end down previously, I noted that the headlight buckets were keyed for automotive style H4 bulbs. Keeping this in mind, I researched online and found that H4 bulbs could be purchased in 35W, 45W, and much higher wattages. After calculating the power I had available from the LED bulb replacements, I selected the 45W, also partially due to my concern that any higher might melt the plastics. Parts - 45W H4 bulb, H4 plugs to splice into the wiring harness, and factory bulb for comparison: [img src=" Factory bulb in socket on bike: H4 bulb mounted in same socket: Splicing H4 plug into factory wiring harness with heat shrink ready to cover the joint: Closeup of H4 bulb in headlight bezel: The finished product: I haven't driven in low-light conditions yet to observe a difference, but can verify that the beam is much brighter than with the factory bulbs when projected against the garage wall. The beam is focused perfectly for both high and low beams. The only issue is that my scooter doesn't follow normal headlight wiring color code and now the high and low are reversed. Not an issue, I'll live with it until I tear the front end down again. Overall, I'm happy so far; I want to take it for a ride around the neighborhood after dark sometime to see just how much difference it makes.

It will make a big difference being SEEN as well. I went from 35 to 55 watt after doing my own heat test to make sure the headlight housing could take it. (people said they could see me coming for half a mile.)

I'm curious how they do as well... I just passed on buying clone headlights because they took China-style bulbs, then you go and post this! lol. The Reflex has only one low & one high beam, but just the low sends an incredible spread of light clear across both sides of the road with a clean cutoff height. Plus the adjusters work. If you are still disappointed with your headlights, there is a pair of Reflex headlamps on eBay for 100 bucks last I looked. (if they fit)

Hi...I do admit that the headlights are marginal...I installed HID's about 4 yrs ago and have not looked back. I used 35w 5000k...H4...9003....Hi/Lo with relays from ebay. I also installed LED's which helped the charging system work. I have over 11000 miles on my 2008 Roketa MC54B...257 cc scoot. The info is on the scoot forums on how to install the HID's..enjoy your ride...

Hello Keltex78, maybe you can help me. I ride a Jonway MJS which is an e-scooter but should be the same model you have. Actually our scooters are a copy of Honda's Reflex. I also want to replace the poor standard bulbs (headlights) and baught OSRAM SILVERSTAR (35W). After a long search I found this hint: www.justanswer.com/motorcycle/6izj3-honda-reflex-change-burned-headlight-bulb.htmlThere they say, a replacement is possible without taking the front parts of the body away. Others say, it it so easy to take the buld out. Please take a look: Its clear that the bulb is bigger than the opening behind. So .. how to get this bulb out? Maybe there is a way to open the cover of the hightlight? I am really stuck. Tom

Tom,
The link describing how to remove the Reflex bulb is correct but it helps to have small hands. Also, it is an optical illusion that the bulb is bigger around than the opening. It will come out the back side. For what it is worth, Reflex bulbs are 55 watt each.
