I just bought a 2002 Vino 50 and it sputters at high speed (full throttle). Spark plug OK - anyone have an idea what this could be from. Kinda cold outside now about 30 degrees, could this be a factor? Confused...

is the air box on correctly with no cracks also when you said spark plug is ok does that mean new or that you thinks it looks ok what plug are you running and what gap .6-.8 and make sure the coil and boot are connect tight

Thanks a million... I forgot to mention I discovered the airbox was missing! No airbox - just a snorkel tube with foam over the intake end. So I assume this does not provide the correct amount of air intake resistance and so maybe not enough fuel? Plug is new NGK not sure which one but I took out and burning clean, put back in snugly. Please advise on the airbox... Thanks!

yeah i would get a new air box or after market air filter with some jets sputtering means its lean and bogging rich, so you need to restrict air flow or get some bigger jets

Thanks for the expert advice! I ordered a stock airbox this morning. It idles very fast as well and only calms down when I put my hand over that open snorkel tube to restrict intake air so I thought that might have something to do with it. Hope that's it! Thanks again...

Yep with more airflow and not using a larger main jet its lean or too much air . Upjetting it even with the airbox can help . Mine came with a 68MJ and I went up to a 75MJ . Many use Mikuni VM11/22 main jets .
Avoid riding until you get the airbox to avoid a soft seize

Cool, my opinion is if you want to go faster install a big bore kit but maybe a aftermarket variator might get that for you or some port work on the cylinder, some things to check is the condition of the roller and the belt if in bad condition might gain speed there for very little, also i am not to knowledgeable with this model the cdi could be restricted if so i would replace that first.
