Thanks for the quick reply!
Already checked all those items. Bought a new regulator/rectifier and same response - no light. Also disconnected the regulator connector and looked for the AC voltage coming from the stator - less than a volt and jumping around. However I do have AC voltage (17-18V) coming out of the stator full output wire and regulator puts out a nice DC to charge the battery. So something wrong with the center tap of this stator (the 12 V AC out to the headlamp) and I cannot figure it out. Inspection of the stator no obvious issues but looks like I am going to have to take it out again.
STUMPED!... :-(

I have a 2002 Yamaha Vino where the headlight will not work. I traced it down to the center tap of the stator. Full stator output works fine... puts out 17-18 Volts AC to the regulator/rectifier which charges the battery fine. All other lights work just no output (less that 1 Volt AC) from the stator center tap that goes to the headlight.
I took stator off twice and seems OK - resistance and continuity seem to measure OK so I am stumped... anyone have any idea why the center tap of this stator/generator does not put out a voltage???
THANKS!

THANKS a million - I will tweak the carb per the instructions and see if this fixes the hesitation/sputtering... also will check for air intake leaks...

Hey Team... I have a 49/50cc Chinese scooter that will hesitate and sputter when I accelerate as I am going down the road say at 20-30 MPH. It acts up more if I just twist the throttle quickly and has a better chance of accelerating if I s-l-o-w-l-y twist the throttle.
Any idea if this is carburetor or spark?
The scooter will also idle very high at time then slow down and die out.
Confused...??
Thanks!

I have a 2002 Yamaha Vino and the headlamp does not light up... headlamp is fine, switches are fine. I think it is the regulator/rectifier. I looked for the AC voltage coming out of the regulator/rectifier while the scooter is running and measure about 1 volt.
Otherwise regulator/rectifier is charging the battery just fine.
Anyone know how to test these regulator/rectifiers to make sure it is bad before I order a new one? Also can I use any generic "GY6 type" four lead regulator rectifier in place of the original Yamaha one? I just wondered if these 50cc scooter regulators were universal or all custom to the scooter they are on???
THANKS!

Thanks for the expert advice! I ordered a stock airbox this morning. It idles very fast as well and only calms down when I put my hand over that open snorkel tube to restrict intake air so I thought that might have something to do with it. Hope that's it! Thanks again...

Thanks a million... I forgot to mention I discovered the airbox was missing! No airbox - just a snorkel tube with foam over the intake end. So I assume this does not provide the correct amount of air intake resistance and so maybe not enough fuel? Plug is new NGK not sure which one but I took out and burning clean, put back in snugly. Please advise on the airbox... Thanks!

I just bought a 2002 Vino 50 and it sputters at high speed (full throttle). Spark plug OK - anyone have an idea what this could be from. Kinda cold outside now about 30 degrees, could this be a factor? Confused...
