I know this is a stupid question, but how does the seat bucket come out? I have the side mounted air box, and the bucket has 2 screws near the fuel fill and one below the seat mount. I've pulled those, but the bucket is not coming loose. Am I missing one somewhere? Just need to do valve adjustment. All my previous bikes just needed 3 screws pulled to remove the access panel on the front. Thanks for any help. Sean

I'll have to double check the actual model. It's the 150 VIP, but can't remember the exact number. I'll post a pic if I can't get the model number.

Yeah there are bolts in there too I have to remove 8 screws and four bolts to get my seat off and have to pull the motor to adjust my valves.

... and have to pull the motor to adjust my valves. That would have me shopping for a new scooter right away! I can't imagine having to pull a motor to do a valve adjustment, talk about a pita!

Wanna know an easier way than pulling the motor to adjust valves?? Like some of the Znen scoots the frame is in the way.. Soo..what ya do. Put it on the center stand. Remove the lower shock mount nut and push the shock back out of the way. Push down the side stand..then roll the scoot forward until it rests on the side stand. The head of the engine will now drop down about 10 inches lower...and guess what? Now you can get to the head really easy...so far and so easy you have enough room now to do a BBK. Which is how I do a BBK on Scoots like that. I NEVER pull the whole engine. Total time involved when I adjust a customers valves this way.. 5 mins vice 30-45 mins to drop the engine.. Glenn

They told me that story about having to drop the engine on my Znen Vintage and there really was just enough room to rotate the valve cover over the cam and down the front of the engine to adjust the valves. Dropping the shock and rasing the back of the bike worked for pulling the head and such by just removing the one lower bolt on the shock along with the four bolts in the bucket two on the latch bracket and two in the bottom front in the second battery mounting location.

Yeah my frame is in the way I can't even get a socket in there to remove the valve cover. I'll try this method when its valve adjustment time.

On my Znen, the only thing in the way was the framing cross member the seat bucket sits on. The intake port bolts hit it when tryint to remove the head, so I just removed those bolts (just all thread), and did my BBK in the bike.

Chris..I worked on a Puma that was like that..could not even get a wrench under there.. So I looked at it a for a minute and thought hmm.. Maybe if I drop the shock it will work. Bingo! A lucky guess turned out to be a blessing..and no more engine removal..

have you got a pic you can post so we can see what type of scoot it is. that's a lot of fasteners to take out for a seat bucket?
