Hey everyone, so i mentioned this in an earlier post but i wanted to make a new thread specifically for this issue. all my ac lights are dimmed out unless i have the bike at over 3k rpm with the break depressed, and even then it tends to dim out after a few minutes of riding, also my choke has stoped functioning i think. this all happened after i replaced the entire ignition system in an attempt to get my spark back. if anyone has any theories id love to hear them but mostly i wanted to ask about how i can run the headlights and tailights off the battery. i have an 8 pole stator so im hoping it will be enough to power the lights. anyone have any thoughts?

it may tax your charging system . You would be better off upgrading your stator .

I would go with a battery that puts out a few more amps . How many watts is your headlight(s) ? You may want to look up going with an 11 pole stator upgrade . My Echarm has a single 35watt headlight and it comes on with a turn off the key rather than once the engine starts . It stays at the same level of brightness regardless of RPM . Now my Echarm has a 12 pole and 12 amp battery where most use 8 pole and 9 amp battery .
You may have a worn stator or rectifier . You should get a trickle charger before you do this in case the draw prevents the battery from getting charged up enough from riding .
In many cases you might can go up to a bulb(s) of ten watts higher but no more . I read many times where someone tried to use a 55watt without modding and the bulb housing got too hot and melted . The trick is to drill two vent holes but make sure to have anti corrosion gel on all connections . Replacing the tail light and running lights with LEDs may free up some juice .

OK guys i gave up and took it to the shop.. it turned out the new stator was shorting alot of things out and causing problems. $211 later I'm back in action with everything working. If there is one thing i have learned about the electrical systems of these bikes is if you aren't an expert don't expect to be able to fix it. everyone was very helpful and nice on this forum but in my experience (at least with electrical problems) is that you can very rarely fix your problem with help via phone or forums. these things need the hand of someone who knows what they are doing and not an amateur. even with everyone helping me by telling me how to test the electrical components i was lost. the instructions where clear but I've found that something might be testing right, but that doesn't mean it is right.(see previous post "disappearing spark") I look forward to contributing more to the forums in the future, but next time i have a phantom electrical issue I'm just gonna save myself the time and money of doing it myself and send it to the shop, yeah hes pricey, but its still better then throwing money at it blindly. well that's my rant, thanks again to everyone who gave so freely of their time to help me. Happy Riding!
