Say, Jim, that's great. Sounds like you're doing way better than I did after my surgeries. I'm afraid I'm my Dad's daughter, and a pretty big pain-wuss.
Also sounds like you've got better wc laws than we do here in KS. Here, you can have your hand on the door to your business and slip on ice, and it's not covered 'cause it's not within the job's premises. That's why if there's any ice, I park front row so I can hold onto my car 'til I reach the sidewalk. Don't care what my employer's rule is.
Most of all, I'm glad you get to sit down for most of your job. It'll make a world of difference in how fast you'll heal.
The cream, I've decided since my last post that it really does help my knees. I've tried going without when they're achy, and then using it again. Seems like there's far less pain when I use it.
Another thing I've used is a wrap-on icepack. I haven't used it for a while 'cause neither knee has been that hurtful at bedtime lately. But it worked great in a two-part manner. First, it was cold (duh) so chilled down the inflammation and the pain. When I woke next morn, it was all nice and warm instead. And still little pain. I attribute that to both the pressure the wrap put on my knee, and the nice damp warmth the un-iced icepack caused. I wonder if doing something similar would help your ankle in the morns.

Just remember to tell TSA about the pin next time you fly. Had to add a little levity. HA. Just noticed this is my first post on the new board.

Actually, if his pin is like mine, "it shall neither rust nor set off the airport detectors." (quote by my toe dr, 'cause like yeah, that was my main concern ) And congrats on joining the fun here, rick! >'Kat

The plate and 9 screws are titanium so I assume that it will set off the metal detectors

Mine's titanium, but maybe being small (toe-sized) and single (poor lonely thing) is why it won't. And actually, hasn't. Hm. Mom has a letter from her dr for her knee replacement. I've got nothing but a goodly scar if that screw ever does set off a metal detector. Wonder if I should look into getting a dr's note?....
And Jim, you might want to have one on-hand too. You know, just in case.

SylvreKat,
I am feeling great, thanks for asking. I went back to orthopedic surgeon last Wednesday and he said he was real happy with my progress and he put me in a air boot. So I am now walking without the use of crutches. There is some pain but not too much. I can move my ankle up and down but side to side still hurts too much. I am sure more movement will come with time. I just happy to get rid of the crutches.

BIG congrats on ditching the crutches!! Now then, don't get too eager and overdo things. Stick to what the dr says you may or should do. If he says do this exercise ten times, don't push for fifteen, not unless he says to. I'll warn you, if the boot is rigid, it's gonna mess up your stride. You'll have to relearn proper walking all over. Keep up with the healing, Jim! >'Kat
