Thinking of getting an ice bear pst 150-8 viking. I know there were problems with reverse which they stopped making. Have they done any upgrades to this model? I would like to think they have ironed out any other problems by this time. Any info or comments are most welcome. Thanks in advance. Obe

Nice trike, nice and open easy to work on if need be. Few other folks have that model maybe they will chime in. Alleyoop

The bugs have been worked out of the Viking and several other 150s.

I have one (purchased last July). It's a fun little trike, people are constantly asking me about it. If you are the shy type this is not for you. Be aware that, as with all Chinese scoots, it will not be perfect when you get it. Even if you pay for PDI. There will be (mostly minor) adjustments & repairs to be done. If you feel comfortable tinkering with mechanical things, you can handle these yourself. It's imperative that you buy from a reputable dealer as he/she will be your "representative" to the factory (in this case Ice Bear) regarding any warranty claims. Personally, I highly recommend Jim from Rapid Repair. He was superb in helping me resolve any issues I had with the Viking. Riding the trike takes a little getting used to, but once you feel comfortable on it, it's a hoot. Top speed on the Viking 150 is around an actual 50mph at 6800rpm with a normal sized rider. It launches briskly and steadily pulls to 45 or so, then takes an extra few seconds to eke out top-end. Note that I made a few bolt-on modifications to mine when new (see sig) so don't know if a stock one performs the same way. I don't check mpg but would guess I'm getting 55-60 with mostly city riding. Hope this helps! Tom

Thanks gentlemen for the replys. If I decide to get one it will be from rapid repair. I would however like to make it a wee bit faster without going overboard. Like to be able to cruise at 50 but not at wot. Take care. obe

Yes you can get it to go little faster without going overboard and not at wide open throttle. You can do it yourself if your somewhat of a mechanic or have the trike delivered to JIM and he can do it for you so when it gets delivered or you pick it up(DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU LIVE THAT IS) it will be tested and ready to ride. Ok Alley, picking the trike up would be out of the ?. I am sure jim can do about anything that needs done, however what I cant do I have a friend that works full time in a motorcycle and scooter shop that does work on the side at a very reasonable rate than the shop rate. What would be done other than putting on 205-65-10 tires. I understand you did that and I believe it gives you an extra few mph.

The tires alone will make a big difference, with the current 205-50-10 and putting on 205-65-10 the difference is 2 1/2 taller tires. With taller tires the faster you go the more you gain, at 30 the difference will be about 3 mph at 40 about 4 mph at 50 about 5mph. Also you will need LESS rpms to cruise at a given speed over the smaller tires.
Then you can put on a 115mm performance Variator to create a bigger wheel turning a smaller wheel(the Belt Down in the Clutch Pulley) for a few more mph as well. Then finally you can put in Taller Gears to even get some more top end speed(but this may require more power to the motor) it all depends on the motors Low End Torque some motors produce more hp than others.
But this should give you I think what your looking for a gain in top end anywhere from 5-8 mph without going into the motor. It should run REAL 55+mph with no sweat, the speedo might show in the 60s but they are way off and more so at higher speeds. Alleyoop

Gotsa question. Are there any front-end adjustments necessary (other than headlights) to compensate for the rake from larger diameter rear tires? Handling affected at all?
