Well I write this from a hospital bed. Dang dog couldn't decide which way he was going this morning and in traffic at 70mph I had few options. The least painful (for me at least) seemed to be just hitting him, which I did. All is basically ok except the bike landed on my foot a bit waiting for xrays but I think its ok. All else is well had on full armor and helmet so no blood was involve (for me). I am quite sad the dog was instantly killed bike is fine but cosmetics likely total it... Updates later

That's bad I've hit many squirrels never caused me to wreck its always bad when animals run in front of you never enough time to decide what the best thing to do.

This thing was like the size of a German Sheppard. Likely a feral dog

Wow, Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I pray all will be well with you.Does your insurance cover damage to the bike?At any rate, Thank goodness you were wearing proper gear. Could have been much worse. Stay well.

You made the right choice. Same type of situation for me many years ago, middle lane of the freeway at 70mpg, cars in both lanes around me and a german shepherd in front of me. Fortunately for me I was in a Pontiac. Can't hard brake, can't change lanes. Good to hear that you are up and about..

Well it didn't throw me from the bike till I landed. He hit my rear wheel kinda funny and the bike didn't land square and threw me high side I jumped but didn't quite clear the bike which caught my foot. I slid to a stop and the bike came up next to me. I likely would be dead without the helmet and still in the hospital with out the armor. I have full coverage insurance from progressive so all the gear the bike and what have you is covered 100%. Should all work out fine... Thanks to everyone for the concern. I'll be on crutches for a day or so and will be a little while (week or so) before I can ride a bike it will take that time for the insurance to go through anyway...

Wow sucks man. Why is it dogs chase scooters? I have had several big dogs come after me. Tons of squirrels run in front and Im glad to know I wont wreck hitting one of them!

And that was the nice 650 silverwing? I hid a big dog with a Harley Sprint many years ago. Slow speed, no damage.
