How does one determine whether it's a DC or AC system? The easiest and right off the bat determination WITHOUT disconnecting anything is this: Use a 12v Light Tester or Volt Meter Turn the Ignition on and Test the BOTTOM wire on the TWO PLUG Plugged in on the CDI. A. If the Volt Meter reads 12v it is a DC CDI or If Light Tester Lights up. B. If nada it is AC Another way is start the scoot and Disconnect the Battery If it Dies it is DC if it keeps running it is AC. Alleyoop P.S: Do Not go by the size of the CDI, I have a AC CDI and it is TWICE as big as the OEM CDI, but it is an Advancing Performance CDI.
