So now that I finally have my Roketa Sicily 150cc running, I have found that the brake light is always on whenever the key is turned on. I see no difference in the light between normal operation, and as I'm actually applying brake.
Would the brake "switch" be dead, or what?
Also I found that my speedometer doesn't work. Is it typical for this sensor to go out, and is it easily replaced?

Tape the brakes on and go to your taillights and the test the GREEN and YELLOW wire going into the socket. It should have voltage if it does have voltage then your bulb or bulbs are bad. There are TWO filaments on those bulbs ONE lights for running lights and the other lights up when you squeeze the brake.
If you have no voltage at the socket then check the wires at the switch. Alleyoop

Alley beat me to it. this happened to me and it was the switch. You'll have to determine which one - sometimes its easy to spot that little part stuck in the depressed position. I've had the switch go bad and the brake lights don't work and I've had them go bad so the brake lights won't go off.

Speedo puck most likely is toast. Inside there is a circular ring that engages with a notch on the front rim. Many times the notch wears out and it just spins. Next cause would be a loose cable, either on the puck end or the gauge end. If both ends of the cable are attached firmly then remove one end and see if it spins freely. Cables are known to snap internally fairly regularly.

I had a brake light stick on. It was due to a lever being loose. Not the lever itself- meaning don't tighten the lever. But there is a screw outside the lever going into the master cylinder, so when you pull brake lever the screw sinks in and presses on it to signal when light comes on and off. It was not in far enough to tell brake light to come on. So I got the bolt turned in further and fixed problem. At sametime it fixed the loose play in the brake lever. It may or may not be your problem. But worth looking at. Not all Chinese scooters have this type of lever..

I drew a quick pic of my brake lever. You see where the nut is located between the master cylinder and brake lever. Actually the screw goes through the lever for adjusting. [img src=" i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac203/Charles_Edward_Creswell/001_zps783ca7e1.jpg" src=" http://" alt=" "] Now this screw is not on all Chinese scoots. But if on yours, the screw may need tightening or loosening. Depends if loose or tight. My lever had about 1/2 play, so the light refused to go off when running the engine. So I knew something held the light on. I pushed the lever all the way out and the light would go off. Let go and it would come on. So tightened up the play by turning the screw inward and light went off. With screw in, I than tried pulling in brake lever- light came on. Released and light went off. The screw also tightened play in lever. Note: Rode about 500 miles with no troubles and suddenly the brake light stayed on.
