I think scrappy sales that switch you you may need. I had a scooter doing the same and replaced the switch and it works fine now

The start button all it does is completes the circuit to ground the Solenoid. So you can test for your problem before buying stuff. Get your self a 12v light tester they are cheap couple of bucks but they do come in handy when tracing for voltage to something that needs it. They are indispensable, cheap easy to use and on a scoot to find out if juice is flowing to something is quick and easy to test for. The way the start system works is when you Squeeze the brakes it sends voltage to the SOLENOID and to the BRAKE LIGHTS. If your brake lights come on when you squeeze the brakes then test the Green and Yellow wire going into the Solenoid. Tape the brakes lights ON, then probe the Green and Yellow wire going into the Solenoid . If the light tester lights up the Solenoid is getting voltage now go to the Start button and make sure the ground wire is connected and it makes a good contact when you press the button. If it is all corroded then replace it. You can test the ground by just getting another piece of wire and going to ground with it and touching the ground wire on the push button and it should activate the Solenoid then you know for sure the push button needs to be replaced if you see you cannot fix it yourself.
