Our one of our local scoot shops decided to sell a stroker crank that may give the HOCA stroker a run for your money. STG is actually Scooters To Go, A Grand Rapids scooter sales and repair shop. Although the price looks attractive, In my experience the shop is all too eager too sell you something. I may pick one of these up considering it's half the price of a hoca unit. If it fails prematurely i won't mind as much because it's more likley to get a replacement from a local place vs someone 1k+ miles away. If you zoom in on the ebay photos you can get a good look at the casting. It isn't quite as nice as the hoca unit. www.ebay.com/itm/GY6-139QMB-Scooter-Stroker-Crankshaft-High-Performance-Crank-/171006885126?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item27d0cdfd06&vxp=mtr

I was going to get one of those, but I did a lot of research and found that several people said they had problems with everything from breaking to not fitting right bad bearings ect. So I went with the hoca crank. But then others have had no problems. I would rather pay more for better quality rather than say o-well it was cheaper. If it breaks, is it really cheaper?

dang tempting at that price, even on my freshly built tao. I found my Naraku crank for $70 which was the only reason I didn't spring for the Hoca.

I haven't got the engine built yet. In the next few weeks I'm going to order a new replacement engine. Since I haven't found a used case. I don't want to use the engine I have now because it runs to good. (it is a 72cc with efi) This way I can just swap them and have spare parts and will still be able to ride while I build the engine.
I have been gathering parts though. I have an NCY 50mm bbk, NCY 50mm head with A9 cam, and hoca 4mm stroker crank. I am also thinking of getting A hoka bbk, head and cam. I have a 24mm carb, hoca performance intake manifold, and super trapp exhaust I am going to use. I haven't decided on the variator or clutch yet and will play with gears when it is installed in the trike.

As an update. I spent some time last week at scooters to go talking about their stroker crank. It is made in the same factory as the hoca unit but is built to STG specs. They are now in their third generation. The first had china bearings. A few failed so the had them redesigned with japanese bearings. The second gen has no failures. The third is using 20krpm ceramic bearings and they are working on ti valve springs so that they can actually spin the motor that fast. I drove one of their r&d big bore strokers and it pegged the Speedo in the time it would normally take to hit 25 it kept pulling after that too.
They will be putting their bbk and stroker in for me this weekend. Full review coming up.
