Can a single ring piston be used in the GY6 50MM jug ?? Does one even exist ?? Has anyone done it, is it even possible ?? Mahalo everyone

Yes, they do exist but you will find them in racing engines where they rebuild them just about every run. Single pistons produce a lot of rpms due to less friction that is why they use them for racing. But they do not last long because of the instability of the piston which now does not have much to keep it straight going up and down in the cylinder. Also because of the single ring your compression will suffer.

I have seen 2Ts with a single compression ring for racing and 2 ring for street use . When my TaoTao fried two pistons and I NEVER had a piston problem after having 40 or so two wheelers I was looking into getting a Wiseco forged piston for a Honda XR and a 50mm cylinder . They cost a fortune but they are machined out of billet and forged instead of cast . HGere is the link www.wiseco.com/Powersports/Pistons.aspx
