by: camojeremy - Sept 12, 2013 8:06:16 GMT -5

All Day Yesterday I was driving the scoot just fine doing great..... Parked it to eat dinner at McDonald's came back out started it up fine but when you give it gas it will throttle fine for a second then lights dim and starts not throttling until you let off throttle and try again and repeat time and time again for a half hour to make it a mile down the road to my house....
CDI NEW Ignition Coil New Spark Plug new and Clean Fresh Gas had just filled up with 93o Has Oil recently changed
Any Ideas?
Was thinking Bad Rectifier or piston scoring and or scorched maybe bad compression just not made it that far in diagnosing it... just looking for thoughts or ideas maybe something I'm not thinking of....

Check your valves. It could be a carb problem or the fuel.
Did you fuel before or after the problem?

HELP!!!!

the fresh gas is the first red flag to jump to mind. it's possible you got a bad batch... perhaps with some water in it?
If there was some water in the gas, then it would settle and stratify while you ate dinner. This would leave the water at the bottom of the tanks where it would be pulled into the carb first. if the bowl of the carb is mostly filled with water, then as you throttle up the small amount of gas on top would get used up and the engine would be trying to draw a mixture of gas and water, which won't burn for crap.
I'd suggest, as an easy first step, draining the bowl of the carburetor, and possibly even draining off some of the fuel tank (after letting it sit still for, say... half an hour) to make sure there's no water.
This would also be a good time to check the fuel filter. If the in-ground tanks at the station were just filled, there's a good possibility of solid contaminants still swirling around in the fuel when you filled up. A plugged filter would restrict the amount of fuel flowing into the bowl.

A fast way I check for water is to pull the fuel line from the carb and stick it in a clean empty soda bottle. I then pull the vacuum line and then suck. It will make the fuel drain into the bottle. after you have a bout a inch in the bottle look at it. it will be easy to see the difference because the water will be at the bottom. you can do this in about a minutes time. If that isn't your issue pull the cover off the top of the carb and check the diaphragm itistheride.boards.net/index.cgi?action=display&board=50ac&thread=2706&page=1

Because the lights work off the stator and not the battery. Lights will dim and brighten depending on the RPMs of the engine.
