Hello, Jerry here from Las Vegas. Just purchased a Znen Q 50 a couple of days ago, and I'm loving every ride! Purchased it at a local scooter store, and had them install a Keihin carb and alarm system, all for $900 out the door. The alarm was a must, as I have surveillance footage of one of my employee's scooters being stolen from right next to my restuarant's rear door. I was going to call it my Bumblebee, but the alarm chirps at you if you forget to activate it within 10 seconds of shut-down, so perhaps I should call it the Canary! I plan on upgrading to a 100cc BBK (82cc really?), a performance CDI, a performance exhaust, and appropriate slider weights and carb jets to match these upgrades. Might even try a 4-valve performance head, but I'm not sure it will do much for the money. Riding home from purchasing it, I was not able to keep up with traffic at take-off, but had no trouble maintaining 35-40mph once up to speed, and had a top speed of 43mph on a slight downhill. Good torque at initial take-off, but power drops off at WOT between 10-20mph, then it was fine. As soon as I got home, I adjusted the carb needle one notch, and that improved throttle response at mid-range speeds and going uphill. Can't wait to add the BBK! I had read so many horror stories about poorly constructed Chinese scooters, but this experience seems exactly the opposite. Perhaps the scooter store I purchased it at did an excellent PDI, but it really appears as if it was well designed and put together from the start. Tight seams on all body plastic, clean engine and tranny after first 50 miles (yeah, I couldn't get off it the first two days, put a few miles on it already), and other than a bit of vibration on the muffler bling (will be replaced soon, so meh), very solid sounding while riding. Here's a few pics of the engine (BN139QMB): Looking forward to learning and sharing with all of you! Thanks in advance for all the helpful posts, links, and pictures/vids!

Welcome to the board. You happen to have a performance parts dealer in Vegas. Check out www.scrappydogscooters.com/ A lot of people here purchase from them.

I definitely will be checking out Scrappy Dog Scooters, have read a lot of good things about them on several boards. I'll probably take a ride to their store on my next days off. Thanks for pointing them out!

Welcome! You have a good brand (znen/bms). Happy scootin. Thanks, I feel lucky to have puchased a Znen, it really does seem put together very well. Although I did several weeks of internet searching in my spare time, it's very difficult to find brand info on scooters, so I think I lucked out. I let a friend who rides a TaoTao ride my Znen yesterday, and he said it was much smoother. It also rained on my first day riding to work, had me very nervous about the electrical, but my little Canary started right up on the first try.

I never really knew the quality of my tomos until I came here. I bought it, my second try (first scoot I bought was a cheap peace 50) and Tomos was from my childhood(had a tomos moped silver bullet). So I bought it, It seemed like a good buy, and was glad, it treats me well.

Would you mind sharing where you got it from, and how you installed it? I'm a soda addict, and feel like a fish out of water if I don't have a drink nearby.
