I was going home after work on Monday, about 50mph, when I felt something strange. My first thought was the belt slipping in the CVT. Then suddenly the rear wheel locked up for a split second with a screech of the tire. With the motor still running,... I was able to coast into an apartment complex and park it. After towing it safely back home and pulling the cover,...Yes, it was the belt. Also discovered I needed a new variator....No big deal, 8000+ miles is pretty good. Today, after picking up the parts needed, the belt is too big, he said it would work for a long case....I wanted the Powerlink 835 20. The variator and drive plate are both too big for the crankshaft. He pointed out that the drive plate was a little bigger, 123mm, but that it was for a 150. My old stock variator is 115mm....i.e....nothing fits properly. NAPA also wasted my time, Tuesday, on a completely wrong type of belt. So now, another day wasted when I could have already had parts on the way to be here by Friday. The only progress made in this fiasco, is a long-wanted impact wrench. But still missed the sale price by two days.... Is it just my 157QMJ that is to small? I've seen the 115mm performance drive plates, but not a 123mm +/-. Open for suggetions, now that I know there are different size crankshafts floating around out there.... The belt is no problem, but that crankshaft, sure pissed me off today.

123 is for 16' wheel scooter , 115 is what you need . you may also need the 842 belt . What size belt was in there and what size wheels do you have ?

Okay, makes sense. I do have 13's with what used to be a Powerlink 835 20. He had my old parts and did mention the size difference of the drive plates......Those two simple questions, knowing his parts, would have made a happy customer and saved a lot of headache. So now, they have my money tied up and will have wasted three hours of my time plus 100 miles on cager gas prices. Not to mention two to four extra days of valuable down time, being my only ride. At least now, I'm not as clueless as the sales person out to just sell something. Arrgghh. Thanks for that tid bit of info. You learn something new everyday.

Hilarious... Finding the 16" variator parts has been few and far between. Just recently figured out myself I needed 20x15 rollers/sliders (thanks John) instead of the 18x14. Considering a longer belt (918 vs 906 - haven't found any size in between) if the new sliders don't use up the variator.
And you stumble upon a Napa actually even carrying any scooter parts, but the 123mm items instead of the 115 super common stuff.

No, ..actually the NAPA belt, even after he repeated the Gates Powerlink number, was still the wrong belt. Looked like something you might use on a power edger. Not even close..... Day 1 of breakdown ..... wasted!
