Got a 2012 Taotao ATM50-A1 secret 80cc. Just finished a speedo cable and speedo gear puck replacement. The puck was defective, and the speedo cable had snapped. Just went with the grease that was in the new gear puck from Taotao, no additional lube. I did lube the speedo cable with white lithium grease. Torqued the front axle nut to 40 ft-lbs. Now I get a squeak from the front wheel when it rotates. Need some help figuring this one out, if I need to lube something & where to look. Thanks.

Where does the squeek come from? The axis, or the brake pads?

Never heard of a secret 80cc Was a 49cc, now an 80cc still registered as a 49cc after its upgrade.

Where does the squeek come from? The axis, or the brake pads? After a test ride, it looks like the pads are making noise. Squeaks right after acceleration from a stop, then it goes away when up to about 10 mph or if I lightly squeeze the front brake lever. Any ideas on what to do? Does contamination of the brake pads or rotor cause squeaking?

Yeah, clean it. Also see if the brake unit isn't out of alignment, the pads are seated correctly, and the bolts are tight.

Yeah, clean it. Also see if the brake unit isn't out of alignment, the pads are seated correctly, and the bolts are tight. Thanks prodigit. It was contamination. Scrubbed the rotor with mean green soap-based degreaser and a scouring pad, dried it off, and no more squeak.
