I took a longer drive to work today, sticking to some state roads and then mapped the same drive on Google Maps and my odometer is reading about 7% over. Per Google, the drive was approximately 19.5 miles while my odometer indicated 21 miles. Of course, there will be some error in trying to read between the wheels of the odometer, and radius on curves (the road has a lot of bends...) so I don't know the exact distance driven.

try to plot out an interstate ride from one entry ramp, to one exit ramp. Record the odo right before entering the interstate, and record it when exiting the interstate. Then compare that to Google.
The interstate is best, because you'll go fastest, and the roads have few curves, so most accurate results

Not going on the interstate!!! Interstate here is 75-80 mph limit with a lot o' traffic going much faster than that! It scares me bad enough in a car, forget about it on the bike!

With these speedos being off you will hav an inacurate odometer. In will not be noticed in most cases because of the % of inacuracy. On a 100 mile trip you may notic a slight difference in most cases and more in some depending on how off the speedo is. Most speedos are inacurate at certain speeds and accurate at others , this is y many do not see much if any difference on short trips. But after thousands of miles you will see differences.

The interstate here is top speed 60MPH, with some spots 55MPH, and a minimum speed of 40MPH, but most people are riding 75MPH, some 80MPH, and some lunatics like me on the 750cc motorcycle do 100MPH sometimes ;D But when I'm on my EVO150, or MC-05-127, I ride on the right lane, doing 55-60MPH. 55MPH on an uphill with wind against me, feels too slow and dangerous, but 60MPH feels just a tad on the slow side. Most people pass you by gently. If the interstate is not good, try the highway. The highway in S-Florida has a top speed of 55MPH, minimum 40. Most people go 60MPH on it, as there are many cops around here that ticket speeding. I've never felt underpowered, with my manual geared 125cc, neither with my 150cc CVT scooter on the highway, and felt MUCH safer than riding in the city!

It's just their policy. Where the posted speed is 80 mph, you will not be pulled over for speeding unless you exceed - even by a little bit! It's kinda like having our own little Autobahn! ;D It's fun doing mph knowing it's pretty much legal. I used to commute between PHX and Yuma twice a week - 186 miles door-to-door. I'd pass cops that were camped out under overpasses with their radar guns a]blazin' and never once did I get pulled over and I was always doing ! And, when you do see an occasional driver pulled over, you immediately think to yourself, "What a dumbass! What's a matter...?? isn't fast enough for you? Just had to do 92 or didn't ya and look where that got ya!" And you don't want THAT ticket! It does all kinds of damage to your driving record, insurance premiums, charges you with wreckless driving and a few other goodies. Back in the 80's and 's the DPS officers had an option to cite you for (and I swear I'm not making this up...) wasting a precious natural resource rather than ticket you if you were cool about it, treated them with respect and didn't try to B.S your way out of the situation. These were basically an on-the-spot citation which you could mail-in to the court and IIRC the fine was $25.00. Got me 2 of those little gems back in the day! ;D
