Been working on putting a BBK on for a forum member here, it's giving me .
I finally got it to have compression, accidentally put the rings in the wrong order...
Now, I was turning it over, and held it wide open, and choked it out, and (note it has a straight pipe) I started getting black-ish smoke out of the pipe. Still no fire. Any ideas? Been trying to start it for 4 days now.

I know absolutely nothing about rebuilding gy6's, but doesn't black smoke denote a too rich condition. Is it possible the plug is burning the gas, too rich, not firing, but blowing smoke? Carb adj? But, W T F do I know. I'm an accountant

Did you adjust your timing right and readjust the valves?

how do you get smoke with no fire? Do you mean no flames comming out of the pipe, or no detonation?

Not enough info. What bbk, what jet, what carb, what intake, etc. I am the customer that requested the 80cc BBK with the Big Valve Head (brand unknown). Scooter is a SUNL SL50QT, with a LJ139QMB engine Carb is a stock replacement with an # Main. Intake is stock. O-ring seals were replaced. Airbox is stock (I have a UNI on hand if needed to replace) Exhaust is "straight-piped" due to cracking where the muffler/header pipe join, and is stock. Variator is performance grade, with 9/5g weights for 7g Clutch is performance replacement with 1500RPM springs (I have some 2Ks on hand if needed to replace) CDI is a "Blue" box that apparently has no rev limiter "Orange" Performance Coil Standard NGK spark plug. Original was replaced. Anything I missed?

Several things can go wrong like rings gaps lined up, timing off, rings have too small or too big gaps, jetted wrong, valves adjusted incorrectly etc etc. It has to be installed correctly one small mistake on these cheap china scoots and they don't run. You need to know what your doing 100 percent before you work on someone elses scoot, I've done over 20 now and guarantee my work if I fail no charge but no fail yet

I've done dozens of kits for people. This... however is really not going my way, replaced head gaskets 3 times now, rings gaps are staggered, but not facing the wristpins, valves set at .004 on both, stock intake, stock carb - brand new- swapped # jet out of old carb. Spark is pretty weak, (yellow-whiteish). Don't know where else to turn to.

[replyingto=westendscooters]westendscooters[/replyingto]So first the rings were backwards and now the guide pin wasn't installed. Yep, those will cause you problems.
