Agree, use 2 base gaskets. The issue comes with rtv when trying to apply it consistently, waiting for it to cure/dry, and then torquing correctly. The paper base gaskets with hylomar gives a really good seal and consistency. The metal gasket is for the head and nothing to change or add there.

Checked all over the place, nobody carries that around here. I'll get a different type of sealant. Im not using the rtv silicone again

I had another hoca set, so I used it plus two more paper gaskets. I torqued the head to 15 lb/ft, and set the valves to .004. I turned it over by hand a few times, and than checked valves again. really loose! The cylinder settled. I looked at the base, and the new gaskets are squished out> is this normal?

Ok, I've tried a few different combinations. The stock carb had a 79 jet in it, I removed it and put in an85, i put in the 20mm with a n , and 100, I have holes in the airbox, and I used tape to cover and uncover 1 at a time Nothing so far seems to work right . What am I missing?

Tried that, wont start. I'm thinking this BBK doesn't like the exhaust. I got it running on stand ok with stock carb and 79 jet which ran so well in the 50, went for ride- bogs down

has it started since you added the extra gasket?

Yeah I did this today.played with the 2 carbs, airbox jets. Has a hard time starting no matter what, you have to catch it just right, A little too much throttle, and it sucks in more air, and loads down the starer. Once it does, I'm using the tach to adjust mixture. Can get it ok, but than it dies after i snap the throttle

The problem could be totally independent of the bbk. Have you checked for strong spark? The coil connections? Changed the fuel filter?
So far it sounds like you are doing things correctly. For figuring the initial running problems, first start with the stock carb and different jets. Do you have the old exhaust on hand? If so, swap that in.
Do you have to dump the gas in the bowl each time you swap jets? Just making sure there is enough fuel.
Just to double check, you aligned the camshaft marks with the "T" right? Not the "F."

[replyingto=brandjur]brandjur[/replyingto]Yup, Im doing all that, good spark orange coil.iridium plug blue cdi.fuel good. no, i dont need to prime it. The exhaust I have came factory on the scooter. Maybe it's too restrictive for the BBK ???I wanted to use it but maybe I have to get a high performance. Only problem there is I like it quiet

Did you check for vacum leaks when i put mine together the spacer on the intake cracked so I removed it and it ran great.
I couldnt adj or do anything to make it run right while riding but it ran good on the stand

yeah everything was as it should be. the hoca piston has a dome. the regular 50mm has a dish.I think the hoca just makes way too much compression for the jug I have.Or hoca must have a different head for their kits

When you try to start it without an air filter , cover the intake with your fingers . Then while cranking vari the air you let through it should start . That is a pumper carb by twisting the throttle when not running you can feed some extra fuel . Turn the key 3 pumps then hit the starter . it should run .

yeah thanks I did try that. I came to the conclusion that it just isn't a good combo. I'm going to try another bbk. Maybe an airsal. Do you have any suggestions? What I'm really after is 40-45 MPH without using WOT. all the time, and decent uphills and also fairly quiet. I don't want to make a loud race machine, just a little more torque and speed.
