still could be an issue with the mismatched piston and jug, like i have said before it sometimes doesn't match up. The ebay cylinder with hoca piston was a no go i tried it, scraped the cylinder walls.

WELL GUYS, I think I found the answer. I removed the plug, and it is now black after running yesterday. Before I did anything else, I decided to put the compression gauge on it...210PSI!! Ya think thats a little too high? I guess things had to seat a little first

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]But I did'nt get it to run right yet, Seems like that piston is going to be too much for the crank.(fighting it) I was thinking- put the 2, maybe 2-1/2 base gaskets in, and maybe even putting the stock cam back. I don't want a super hypo machine, just a little more power. What do you think?

2 gaskets should get you where you need to be, anymore than that and the chain will be too tight

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]yeah, i agree, what do you make of the black plug? that same carb was on the stock 50cc in the scooter,,(190 psi) and it ran beautifully even was accelerating up hills, color good and all.maybe I didn't give that motor a chance ... Only 800 miles. Anyway , I'm going to try the 2 gaskets.

the black probably came from when you first started it and the extra oil on the new piston burns off, will make the plug black

no marks on piston or scoring of cylinder. Botom gasket was deteriorated though why? was it the silicone? that was a thick hoca base gasket too Ill have to use a couple of regulars with the other hoca should I just put them in dry?

Is it covered consistently black? If you have pics of the plug that would help. It could be rich on the idle, it could be a hot plug, it could be the unburnt fuel as it stumbles. It's really difficult to read a plug when an engine can't run consistently.

Your pic is too small to see clearly. I use hylomar gasket dressing. I use it on car engines all the time where there is a paper gasket. Hylomar is also used on motorcycles. Spread a thin layer on both sides as excess gets smushed out. This is also great to use for running 2 base gaskets. Also, the metal gasket goes on top for the head.
