Mobil1 sythetic 10w 30 *They ran out of 40 in both stores i went to.*
I think my engine severely overheated when I put on a new exhaust and didnt change the air/fuel ratio.
Can overheating make oil black?

Especially if it's a new scoot. Oil changes are more in the beginning.

Ive got news for you. I have changed my oil after 1 day and its black. Im sure its still fine but it just seems to always be this way. Just looking at that crap makes me glad i run 10w40 full synthetic and change it every 200 miles or so. Now gear oil, i can drain that after 2000 miles and i cant tell the difference between it and new oil!

As there is no filter (other than a screen) the oil gets dirty quicker. Oil doesn't wear out, it gets dirty. On a car, the oil filter filters out the contaminants. On a scoot, the screen don't do c h i t.
