I have a 2010 Motofino QT-2 50 cc scooter. When I shut the engine off and coast a few feet I hear a short squeal every couple seconds until I stop. Is this normal or something that needs lubrication in one of the wheels?

Could be your brakes.Make sure your wheel and swing arm bearings are good by trying to wiggle the wheel. Also check your CVT area .Its prolly just the brakes.

I don`t think anything is worn out. The scooter has less than 1800 miles on it. The weird thing is sometimes it squeals a couple times as it rolls forward after engine shutdown, and most times it`s quiet. Sounds like it`s coming from the front wheel area. The brakes are off at the time. I`m wondering if the wheel hub at the axle area just needs a shot of WD-40 or something.

Is it something that is always squeeling, just can't hear it when the engine is running and you are driving?

Block up the bike so that the front wheel is off the ground and spin the wheel and if it squeaks then start trouble shooting by removing the brake caliper without disconnecting the hose hanging it from the handlebars with a wire and spin again being very carefull not to squeeze the brake lever which could pop the piston out of the caliper which could damage it beyond repair so that the entire caliper would need replacement.
If the squeak is now gone it is just the brake pads squaking a bit which is normal and ok as long as they don't drag too badly.
If it still squeaks after the caliper is removed then you need to trouble shoot the axle and speedometer drive. It could need greasing or the spacers could be installed incorrectly.
WD 40 is not a solution and would only be used to diagnose the issue to help find where the squeak is by how it changes depending on where you spray it. WD 40 is for water displacement and freeing things up that are sticking or cleaning electical contacts however it is not a good axle or speedometer drive lubricant.
