I've got a TaoTao ATM50. I've blown two bulbs in the past two weeks, so I think I need an LED. I've checked the voltages and it doesn't seem to waiver enough to cause me any concern. I just don't want to spend more on bulbs in a month then I spend on gas. I'm not really confident enough to buy a bulb that just looks right to me, so if anyone could point me towards a decently bright LED that will fit I'd really appreciate it.
EDIT: Headlight, sorry.

You didn't mention which bulb, most scooters have more than one...

Ok, maybe I wasn't clear enough.
I want to replace my headlight with LED bulbs. Not halogen, not any type of incandescent bulb. I've tested the voltage, it's fine.
Can anyone point me towards an LED bulb that will fit in my TaoTao ATM-50?

[replyingto=josiahgould]josiahgould[/replyingto]I dont know where to get LED head lights,,you may have to get some type of resistor when using them,,they only handle so much voltage,,I never had a problem with halogens.
Try ebay search...

Hi josiahgould I would check the ground going to the voltage regulator. The voltage regulator takes the excess power the lights don't need and dumps it to the frame of the scooter, if it loses it's ground it can no longer dump the excess power, and that power goes to the headlights blowing out the bulbs...
Take the voltage regulator off, sand a bare spot on the side that goes to the frame, where the bolt hole is, get some dielectric grease and put in on the sanded spot, sand the frame a little where the regulator bolts to the frame.. Replace your bulbs and enjoy....
Honda elites actually have a additional ground wire going to the voltage regulator that is attached by the regulators mounting bolt, in addition to the regulator grounding to the frame... Chinese scoots don't... Hope this helps..
