So I just finished installing my bbk, and lost my ignition key, so I just unhooked it altogether to try kick starting it, I put a new 20mm carb on with the new kit btw, anyway it wouldn't kick start, it tried with starting fluid but didn't run continuous. So I ordered a new ignition off eBay and it'll take 2 weeks before I get it and I need my electric start to get this thing running. Does anyone know if I can run a jumper wire between certain wires in my ignition plug and which ones so I can temporarily bypass my ignition switch to use my electric start? I have a 50cc gy6, and it's a 6 pin ignition plug. Someone please help it's driving me crazy I got my new kit installed and now u can't even start it or ride it!

i started my bbk with my kickstart. do you have the carb hooked up properly with all the vacuum lines? are your valves adjusted properly a lot of people say .003-.004mm, was your ignition on? is your battery hooked up? is your engine grounded? these are some of the problems i ran into when starting my bbk build. gl

[replyingto=nwhicks21]nwhicks21[/replyingto]If it did anything at all when you sprayed starter fluid in (stumbled, tried to start, ran for a sec then cut off)- then it's not your ignition causing the problem. When you spray in starter fluid you are mimicking a perfect fuel air mixture so you're essentially doing the carbs work for it. Check all fuel hoses, vacuum hoses, carb cleanliness. You're not getting fuel if what I just described is true. This could be due to a clogged carb, clogged fuel filter, even a bad petcock. Did you suck the vacuum hose that connects to the petcock to "prime" the carb? Sometimes it takes a while for the carb bowl to fill up... I'd try removing the fuel line to the carb and sucking the vacuum line to see if gas comes out of the fuel line... if so then it's somewhere in your carb...

It's a brand new carb, and I don't what valve specs are fir the 50mm bbk but I did .005 on intake and .004 on exhaust, it's getting fuel so Idk, I just know it would be easier if I used my electric start which I can't use until I figure out which wires to jump from the ignition switch plug to bypass the ignition switch and be able to use my starter.

When you get the key set I would make at least one copy of it at any hardware store since you lost your last key . The blank is X84 HD74 . A local hardware shop near me is well known for being " The Keymaster " as they have way more blanks than anyone else and we had to try a few before we learned that blank worked . I have one for each of my scooters with out the plastic on it so that it is flat and fits inside my wallet as an emergency key . The blanks are stronger too . I bumped my key with knee while riding and had to put it in a vise to straighten it

[replyingto=skuttadawg]skuttadawg[/replyingto]This should work for you. Assuming you have a good battery- unplug your ignition wiring harness. You dont have to jump any wires- Remove the fairing in the front enought to just get behind the ignition... there is a short pigtail with 4/5 wires coming from your ignition. Unplug it (your ignition from the wiring harness). Now take a screwdriver and jump the terminals of your starter relay. It should turn over (and hopefully start). Don't tell your friends about this, this is OUR little secret. =)
