Yamaha paint mixers! Been there done that. (That was 4 or 5 bikes ago.) Bought a fixer upper. Completely restored it from the ground up just to see if I could. Gold frame with raspberry tank and panels. Put the big sissy bar and the shelf on the back. Ran great. Loads of low end torque. Looked awesome. Vibration was awful though. Absolutely beat you to death if you spent any significant amount of time on the highway. Constantly re-greasing and re-tensioning the drive chain. Need to adjust the timing chain while the engine is running. Vintage UJM style has a relatively high seat height and carries the weight of the motor high in the shoulders. Was too much for me. Sold it and moved on to something else. There's definitely something to be said for having more than one horse in the stable if you can afford it. I need to get a picture posted of my current herd. "Orca" and the "Black Swan".

Oh wow. I had one of those . Mine came with the factory sissy bar and a stepped seat . Mid nite blue . Went though many mods and paint jobs on it . When I gave it away it was clean and mean . Frame was de-tabbed , custom made ( by me ) pillon seats , thicker exhaust without mufflers ( had a muffler shop cut the pipes 5 inches from the head and weld bigger diameter pipes over the outside of the pipes . It sounded sooooo sweet) hipo cam , overbore to 750 kit , peanut tank ridding high on the frame , front fender reversed and chopped , and taller but not like ape hanger style handle bars ....oh and no interments ...ie no tach, speedo, turn signals, nothin . Headlight and tail light changed ( headlight from a sportster tail light from tractor supply round 4inch. Lots of fond memories on it . Hey there are several 650 clubs out there you might want to look into one I was with was 650 society ....many guys bob and chop those ....have seen several on hard tail frames .....lookin realy sweet

Always good to have a motorcycle and a scooter. I bought a 1990 FJ1200 in feb. My boss doesn't understand why I still ride the mc-79-250 scooter to work nearly every day. Both have their place. I really prefer to be shiftless around town and the scooter is much better for grocery shopping. After chopping the seat down a little, it is nearly as comfortable as the corbin on the 1200. Of course, I usually take the big bike when I visit friends that live close to the freeway. Kind of "the right tool for the job" thing.. congrats on the 650..

SWEET!
Heck, I wanted one of those when they were NEW! I've always been a sucker for those, and the even earlier Kawasaki 650 vertical twin (non-unit-construction!) that looked like a Royal Enfield. Cheesh, I'm dating myself with THAT rare rice-burner. Saw my first one in high-school in 1963! I think that's even BEFORE the original Honda 450 "camel-back" twin! I haven't seen one of those Kaws in more than 40 years! They were ahead of their time, and not many were ever made. Sure would make a great bobber!
Japan was REALLY on-track with THESE! Wish they'd have kept up the Brit-Twin-concept!
The new Indian Chief is supposed to be unveiled today... Gotta see THAT one! Made in USA by Polaris. Should give Harley fits! LOL!
Enjoy that sweet 650! Keep it forever; it's only gonna get more valuable...
