Got a 2 month old 2012 Taotao ATM150-A Evo 150cc scooter. Upgraded CDI, coil, NGK Iridium plug, Helix fuel lines/vacuum lines. Everything else is stock. Has about 800 km on it with no problems until today.
Left it running for a minute while checking the mail. When I rolled it off the center stand, the engine died. Then it wouldn't start. Pressing the starter button does nothing. Starter doesn't turn, and there's no sound. But there's power because the fuel gauge works, and it's a new Motobatt battery.
Tried to kick start it. Won't start. I'm not too familiar with the electrical stuff, so I need some help troubleshooting, if it's electrical. Where do I begin looking? I could use a checklist. Thanks guys.

Thanks tvnacman and terrilee. This IS embarrassing. I pulled out my Haynes scooter repair manual and did find a checklist. I forgot all about the kill switch because I never fiddle with it. INDEED, I accidentally hit the kill switch when I rolled off the center stand. Oh boy. Lessons learned.

Happens to the best of us(HAHA). Happened to me just pulled out of my driveway and going down the street and pulled over to talk to my neighbor. Same thing i accidentally hit the killswitch. Finshed chatting and went to start it and on mine it will turn the motor over but will not start. Then the light bulb lite up and sure enough the killswitch. Alleyoop

How's the evo treating you? I got ~500km's on mine. Did you notice any performance improvements after the mods you did? I hate the inside of the EVO, too many lines. Don't know which is fuel line, and which is vacuum line... Too many branch connections (T-pieces) on the hoses (with T pieces on T-pieces on T-pieces). So far, about % of the bolts could be tighter on mine, 10-15% of the bolts where loose on it, and 5% fell off.. Not so happy about QC on my bike. Way worse than on my ATM, and BMS 260.

Hey prodigit, I'm up to 800 km and my Evo is purring away. The only loose bolts so far were the front brake caliper bolts that were missed during PDI. Thanks to troubleshooting from the guys on the forum, those got tightened...probably saved my life. The rear axle nut wasn't too tight out of the factory, but I caught that. I did the mods right away, so I can't compare to the stock Evo. But, I'm getting 70 mpg, max speed 55 mph. It's working great for getting around town on roads where the speed limit is 45 mph. Great in traffic. About those lines: yeah, lot's of Ts. What I did was use red and blue see-through Helix line. Red for fuel. Blue for vacuum. And get rid of all that extra line and devices they install for California. It cleans up nicely once you get the colored lines in there.
