Ok.. I had to order a new camshaft holder because my other one cracked into pieces. So, I got it delivered today, put it on & this forsaken machine still will not crank!!!! It acts like it really wants to. It just won't start. The starter is fine, the carb is getting gas, there is oil in it. Everything is hooked up properly. But, for some reason, it will not start. I even checked the battery, its fully charged. My kick start thingy won't work, it has never really worked since I bought this thing brand new 5 months ago. & It just so happens that my warranty ran out like 2 weeks ago! I don't know... Can anyone offer any advice?

Did you physically check spark? Are you sure you maintained the timing in your cam shaft holder adventure?

When you say crank do you mean turn over with the starter or run?

Crank as in Run... It will act like it really wants to start up but, its not "catching" does that make sense?

yep that's what i though you meant. Pull the plug or if you have a spare just pull the plug boot off the plug put a spark plug in and ground the plug on the motor while you crank it over and check and see if you have spark in the gap.let us know and we'll take it from there. Am I making sense??

Is the plug wet after you crank it? Have your tried artificially fueling it (just a nice way to say spray carb cleaner in the intake)
Did you ever move the cam chain? Do you have a compression gauge??

No, plug is not wet. Haven't tried the artificial fueling thing. I didn't move the chain & when I replaced the camshaft, I made sure it was lined up like it supposed to be, just as I took it off. The big hole in the middle. I don't have a compression gauge.

Do you have a can of carb cleaner or starting fluid? If you don't you can also just squirt gasoline in there if you have like say a medicine syringe for infants...
Roller derby rocks I have always wanted to play but I have never seen a co-ed or men's team...

oh forgot to mention there is a not so scientific way to check compression. Pull your plug and put your thumb over the hole. Try with all your might to keep it on that hole while you crank the engine. You shouldn't be able to even come close to holding your thumb there...

Yea the old FINGER Compression test, Do not be afraid if it has descent compression it will JUST LIFT your finger out of the hole. If you just feel some pressure then your compression is low. By the way did you GAP YOUR VALVES after you installed the new CAM? It could be the Valves are tight and are a little open and that will cause loss of compression.
To make It easy to get some fuel into the intake take your VACUUM hose coming off the INTAKE MANIFOLD hold it up and pour a teaspoon of gas straight into the intake and hook the vacuum back up and try starting it. If all is halfway descent it should fire at least once and may even start and die. Alleyoop
