Has Anyone had a problem with their scooter suddenly eating CDI boxes? Mine has ruined three so far . they start and run fine, but then Quit.Anybody have the wiring diagram? its an ac unit. The only thing I can figure is maybe the trigger wire and the power from the stator are somehow reversed in the harness. would it still fire like that?

Wish I knew something helpful. The electrical systems to me are just crazy hard to figure out. Good luck

If im wrong there, somebody tell me You are correct they are different . the scooter can run without charging the battery and or headlights . what I have found if your ignition circuit is dc and you put an ac cdi it will run for a very short time . if it is ac and you a dc cdi it will not start . I would check the main fuse then check the black/red wire on the two pin plug on the cdi . First check the voltage with the key switch in the run position , kill switch in the run position . if it is a dc ignition you will have 12vdc , if it is ac ignition you will get 40vac + while cranking . Take the voltage measurements with the cdi unplugged . John

[replyingto=tvnacman]tvnacman[/replyingto]Yeah Thanks I definitely have an ac. systemThe original cdi was restricted. But getthis; The 2nd wire on the two prong connector(the one thats supposed to go to a kill switch) went down to a pickup sensor on the clutch bell. I disconnected it, and it revved like crazy. I bought a new 139qmb, and built it up BBK,cam,variator,gears,carb... I was not happy with it, so for now, I put the original motor back in. Heres where the problem started. No spark, so I tried an orange cdi. no good, I put in a used cdi, and it ran but rev limited.I put in a non rev limited cdi, It started and revved. when I went to ty wrap it to the frame and button up the plastics, no more spark. Is it possible that the wires from the stator were wrong? (firing or trigger ckt on power in ckt, and power in AC volts on trigger pin? would it start and run and then let go

Check the bottom wire on the TWO PLUG of your CDI with either a VOLT METER or a 12V light TESTER and see if you get a reading on the VOLT METER or the LIGHT TESTER LIGHTS UP. Alleyoop
