Well, my new scoot with 500 miles on it is leaking shock oil on the front left side. MC-79-250 model. Leaving oil spots on parking lot when parked. I noticed it was leaking from there earlier at the seal. Can these shocks be rebuilt with new seal and fluid? If so, any idea where i can get the right seal? I can get new shock for 70 bucks online. So if that is best to do, can do that. But just wondered if i could fix it easily for cheaper. THanks for any help. I have searched, and came up with vids on youtube, but none on a chinese scoot..

If you are within the warranty period see if the vendor you bought it from will send you the free repair parts. They may surprise you and just send you a new set of assembled struts ready to go. 500 miles to me is less than a months riding.

I have had it for a few months now. I dont ride far usually. Only 3 miles from work. Occasional highway miles. Around town. I highly doubt they will. I have been trying to get my replacement damaged body panels since i received it. (Superior Powersports). Dont reccomend them unless your close enough to go there. Do any Honda ones fit, or just a certain size. I feel comfortable to rebuild it if i can get the right part. My only concern in the link you posted is they are 33 bucks. I can get a whole new assembly for $75. So i dont want to spend 33 on something and then have to pay another $75 later. Again, i appreciate any and all help provided. Wife keeps asking me if i learned my lesson buying a scoot online. Trying to get it to tip top shape to tell her no lesson needed.

I might just replace it. But without seeing it, hard to say for sure. If you replace the seal be sure to inspect the fork for burrs or strangeness that seal should of lasted a lot longer. Is it possible it's still good and just never properly seated? Also changing fork seals requires special tools (whether you make them or buy them) and fork oil, not just parts. So you are going to be a lot closer to $75 than you think with just a seal replacement

Sounds good. Was thinking the same thing. I just am a hand on person who likes to do things. I might just order new one, and then tear down the old one. Keep it for parts, and learn for future. Thanks for all the posts.
