heck yeah what flavor did ya get? im a butter pecan or black cherry man myself
on another note what size -roller- weights are usually standard in a taotao 50? and are the -sliders- more "smoother"? I want to order a set (slider) and not really change the ped's character much I would just like it to be more smooth may get a tad heavier cause im thinking it would keep the ped in the power maybe a tad longer?? I could be wrong I suppose after all I did think the spark plug was supposed to have a screw on titty nipple like a car's plug has^^^ that should tell you how green I am

Haulinwiener,
Welcome to the site! You won't be "green" for long... These scoots are easy to work on, and invite experimentation.
I'm not familiar with the 50cc scoots, but they're mechanically similar to all the other engine sizes. SLIDERS are recommended by many riders for some sound reasons.
Their flat sides contact the entire variator surface, which ROLLERS cannot do, simply because they're round. They only contact the variator at their centers. This difference seems to allow the SLIDERS to more fully open and close the variator, providing some improvement in both acceleration AND top-speed. Most performance mods offer one, or the other benefit, but not both... LOL!
Changing out weights is fairly easy, so I'd encourage you to experiment. I don't know the standard weights of your factory rollers (50cc riders please help out here...) but with larger engines, many riders find that the next heavier weight slider is OK. You don't want to bog-down the small engine, so it might be necessary to try both stock-weight, and heavier sliders. That gets a little expensive, but the sliders you don't use could be sold to another 50cc rider to offset the expense.
I rode a Chinese 150 for 7 years and found that experimentation with variator weights can make a big difference in performance. I found that for best all around riding I needed a mix of 2 different weights. Not common, but it happens. (12 gram rollers were too heavy and bogged, 11 grams were too light and cut top-speed. 3 11's and 3 12's mixed alternately were perfect on my scoot...).
I have not heard ANY negative reports on sliders: only highly positive. Based on that, I plan to install sliders in my old 250 when I can get to it. I think the improvements may be more noticeable with larger displacement engines, but good performance should be expected with any size.
Good luck, and ride safe!

thanks or the reply believe ill go ahead and pull the trigger just wished I knew what size to get 6 grams seems to be common on what ive read
and whats the consensus on the dyna jet/6sigma carb kits ive read good and bad
what ive got out of what ive read is when you start fooling with intake and exhaust the carb definitely has to be retuned
again thanks im going to need all the good advice I can get here shortly
and wheelbender I like a hot fudge sundae too bout too cold around here to be eating icecream outside though man my teeth hurt thinking about it

Haulinwiener,
I made some major changes to the carburetion and exhaust on my old 150...
The only changes to my carb needed were a slightly richer main jet and adjustment of the "needle" that pulls the carb's throttle-slide up, so it would accelerate better without bogging.
I think the smaller the displacement, the more critical adjustments are, so you may have to play around some. It's worth it, and you'll learn plenty!
Ride safe,
Leo in Texas
PS: I'm still not sure about the weights you need... C'mon, 50cc guys, give a hand on the best choice for those variator weights. Just one gram made monumental changes on my old 150, so with the smaller engine, it must be very important.

d-damn I'd say
I guess i'm going to have to tear down to the weights and throw them on a digital scale to see what ive got before I order--I have the means
its when/if I throw this uni type pod filter on is when ive got to start paying attention and not do anything permanent I guess
I guess i'll see how it acts when that filter gets here
thanks again for your input

When you start mucking around with the intake and exhaust you will likely need to change the carburettor jetting as well. Rather than buy a bunch of different main jets I had a set of really tiny number sized drills and a pin vise. It works this way -- find the largest drill size that goes through the jet then drill it out with the next larger drill bit and try it out. Keep drilling bigger and bigger until you lose performance. Solder the jet closed, back down one drill size and drill the jet to your final size. Of course, this makes sense only if you have the drills and pin vise/Xacto knife handle already.

well... I put in the slider weights today they were six grams factory are five grams in case anybody wants to know installed the Gates belt too
later on my Prima magnetic drain plug set came so I changed all oils and used Lucas for MC's and installed those
gotta say im very pleased
acceleration is a lot smoother and id say my scooter has a bit longer legs

I turned off the fuel and drained the carb and started a rotation with battery charging on all the toys. Hopefully next month it will stop raining.

yeah I need to get a petcock too haha -petcock-
switched the coil wires back and it fired up?? go figure but leaving it as is with green to green
put on my LED headlight and the MF'er flickers whats up with that?? maybe it needs to warm up?? going to look at it better when it gets dark
put on the pod filter and it sounds rather "throaty" and I like it doesn't bog down when I twist on the throttle either but im sure its running lean when I pulled the factory plug to put in the iridium it was kinda sooty whats the chances its actually burning fine now?? how do you test it?? run wide open and kill it-check plug??
what does everybody do with the leftover hose from the breather box omit??
anyways back out into the rain to fool with this thing actually its just misting I love my FroggToggs u can get em at WalMart for like $20 best money I ever spent for riding my scoot need to get me one of those fluorescent vests

Changed out the regulator/rectifier and next day had to change the CDI. I guess after 3 years on stock ones was pushing it and decided to fail together.
