Rode down to the boat ramp to see how much the water has come up.
Looks like it came up a little bit.
Then rode down to the river below the dam.
River has a lot of moss growing in it.
Rode between 40 and 50 mph to the river.
Rode about 40 coming back.
Speedometer turned over to 400 + miles.
Since I got the new tire on the scooter rides smooth.

Byute basically. Butte is a water/shore feature in this case elephant shaped though with the water as low as it is the shape is surely gone. I haven't been there for a very long time.

It does take some imagination to see the Elephant in the Butte.
When the Butte was an Island there were some wild goats on it.
It was fun to watch for them when fishing around the Butte.
There was a black baby goat the last year they were there.
It was entertaining watching its antics as it played around.
When the water got low enough the goats were removed to a safer place.

I've explored Truth or Consequences and Elephant Butte several times on both a Honda Elite 110 and a SYM HD200. What kind of scooter are you riding?
You are only a short distance from NM Highway 152 which takes you to Silver City through the Black Range. It's got to be one of the best motorcycle/scooter roads in America, though it's not well known.
It's so curvy a lot of big cruiser motorcycles won't even attempt it, perfect for a scooter or small motorcycle.
My son and I blew through there on a Suzuki TU250X and the SYM HD200 on a 300 mile day, one of our most memorable rides.
