A couple of days ago my Drive belt gave out and got torn to shreds I bought a new one and put it on. When I put it on my scooter wouldn't turn over and it sounded like it was making a higher pitched noise then it usually makes. When I take the belt back off my scooter starts up just fine. I know I am putting it on right from what I can see from youtube video's. I am thinking maybe with the belt on its not turning fast enough to turn over the engine. I have a 50cc Taotao CY50-T3. My uncle says it might be the clutch or something but im not really sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you take the Variator off and re-positioned the weights in the variator? Did you spread open the CLUTCH pulley and clean out the shreded belt pieces? When a belt shreds in the CVT you have to clean it all out and take the variator off and check the weights in the ramps. Alleyoop

Bought a electric Torque Wrench and took the Variator off re-adjusted the weights and put it back together and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the help Alleyoop!

[replyingto=ronnoc923]ronnoc923[/replyingto]For re torquing a variator/clutch nut I made up a nice spanner tool,,this way you can use a torque wrench and not just guess with an impact,,I guess alot of guys use a strap wrench,,i need to get one of them soon. Here is a pic of the tool I made out of an old bed frame angle iron ,it works on both variator and clutch. Tom Attachments:
