Yup, but not where you would expect them to strip (outside of the shaft) this stripped the triangular gear inside. I am afraid it may happen again! What can be the cause?

Cheap metal if the teeth inside where it grabs the shaft splines. Or if the splines on the shaft stripped sameo sameo not hardened properly or cheap metal. The kick starters on the scoots are not made to last really they are only to be used for emergencies if your electric start is not working. Alleyoop

Well some times -his engine has a metal grind sound after a kick, I assume the gear is staying engaged for some reason but can't figure out why. Everything is greased and free moving. Only reproducable issue is kicking it over and releasing imidiatly after tdc it will catch and pull the kick starter with it (just so happens that's all it needs to start so I usually stop there and it happens a bit)

I seem to have an advance on the engine! It will fire JUST before tdc and if I'm not careful kick back the wrong way. I have not altered this engine at all.... maybe I need to retard the timing a slight bit. hmm thinking about it it didn't fire before tdc until I adjusted the valves. Hmm curious
