I have no idea. Was it powered by a motorcycle motor? Scooter motor?
It could either be a great deal or a horrible one.

If your a car mechanic and a good one and have DEEP POCKETS to blow you can rebuild it. but it will not be cheap. Also since you cannot test drive it the tramission may be just one of many not working parts. Also you cannot drive those on the street that is basically a Dune Buggy or Desert Buggy. I say Pass if it was cheap enough to fix he would not be selling it for $300.00 the tires alone are $300.00. My .02 Alleyoop

The gas tank looks like it came from a home generator! Baja motorsports made something like that.

There are buggy forums too, like: buggydepot for example and several others, who could have better answers about buggies in general.

They make buggies like that that are powered by everything from a 110cc scooter motor to a 1000cc water cooled motor, a lot of them have the CN 250cc motor, it might just need a new variator, it might need a lot more than that, you need to find out what the motor is and then you would have a better idea. Anything that is not a running vehicle has to be considered a total rebuild when buying it. www.superiorpowersports.com/GO_KARTS_s/56.htm
