i've read many threads but i am still confused. perhaps it is one of those things you just have to get in there... trial and error. my scoot has good takeoff speed to 15mph (about 2 seconds) then the rpm drops and it is very slow to 30mph (about 20 seconds). if my reading has done me any good then i believe my variator weights are too heavy. but what about the clutch? what can you do to the clutch to increase acceleration? i really don't know the right questions to ask and i'm starting to think trial and error is the only way to get the most out of the cvt.

Your right on, your weights are to heavy it will not let the motor build its RPMS. You should get yourself a Tach, with a tach it will be much easier to tune anything in Carb, CVT Gearing etc.. Also with a tach you will know right away if something is going south on you. Alleyoop

Yes it is a real nice tach and works great, here is the link and scroll down and see it work. I bought one just to try it out Even though my instrument panel already has one. It installs in 5 minutes just wrap the wire around your coil wire and velcro it where you can see it as you ride. Alleyoop trailtech.net/tto_tach-hour.html

i'm going to take it apart and weight my rollers today. anyone have an educated guess how many grams i should go down? 2 grams? or perhaps only 1 gram, i don't want to lose top end.
