Well,
After making a few posts that drew interest, with pix of the mods, I have tried in-vane to get the pix large enough to actually see. NOPE! With PhotoBucket, it ain't gonna happen.PHOTOBUCKET has changed their system to allow only what they call "web-sized" images to be shared. This makes it a real challenge to show any detail in posted pix, and with photos of an entire scooter, details can barely be seen. Anybody have any better way to store pictures so they can be posted at a DECENT size? I know, you can't post BIG pix that take up too much memory, but, these mini-pix from PhotoBucket are ridiculously small for "how-to" posts. Thanks! Yea in reality it more a policy to save hard drive room on their servers... Still it sucks at times..

I have both Picasa and Gimp, In truth i rarely ever use picasa... Gimp IMHO is far better

www.dropbox.com/ will let you store whatever you want up to your space limit and then post a public link. It is just storage though. You'll need to edit your image elsewhere and then upload.

I use picasa and sometimes I use the resizing edit option in photobucket

Thanks for the input!
I signed up with Dropbox.com and need to upload some pix to see how it works. I hope I can insert the pix into posts like with PhotoBucket. PhotoBucket recently changed their systems, and no matter what size, or pixel-count you use, you can only insert a picture of the size in Domindart's photo above. Only the resolution changes, not the size of the image. We shall see...

OK,
I signed up for Dropbox and Picasa. No problem getting pix INTO those programs, but I've spent 5 hours trying to get them to post in a thread here, and, it ain't gonna happen. The best I can get is a link to appear, and mostly it won't even direct-click. For now, I guess I'll have to stick to the teensy PhotoBucket pix... At least PhotoBucket works (most of the time)...
It would be SOOOO nice if one could just copy and paste a jpeg from a file on their hard-drive into a thread.

Not one to give up, I doug into the internet, and found a service that seems to work OK for me, and it's free.
It's called postimage.org and I'm experimenting with it now. Updates as I see how it goes...

This is a test.....880kb, 2304x1296 pixels, 72dpi Upload the image to the "public' folder in your Dropbox account. Right click and copy the public link Paste in to the forum post with your link in between the brackety "img" things with no spaces between the brackets and your link And...i don't know why, but you need to delete the "S" from the link. It should be http not https Arlen Ness "Two Bad" at the Motorcyclepedia Museum in Newburgh, NY. Those TV chopper guys got nothing on the old masters.  |

Thanks! I'll try that. In the mean time, this PostImage.org seems to be a great answer. I've uploaded some pix there, some with a LOT of high-def memory, and when I want to insert one in a posting, I just click "show codes" for the picture. Then copy the 3rd option from the bottom "Hotlink for forums (1)" and paste into the thread. It automatically sizes the photo to a size similar to your Arlen Ness picture. Here's an example (showing a handy trick I figured out...) screen shot toolThe PostImage site is mighty sparce, with few tutorials, and not even info on how much space you can have. But so far, it seems like an easy solution. Could be it doesn't offer enough space, but I'll find out as I go along. Talk about MEMORIES... The "Two-Bad" chopper is from MY era! I remember seeing it in a custom-car show in Chicago. Two Sportster engines with the unit-trannies cut away, and a blower... WILD! I wondered even then why he didn't use a pair of 74's. The Big-Twins look a little better than the Sporties, AND, their simple, SMALL crankcases would have been much easier to "Siamese" in the frame. They would also have just hooked up naturally to a standard "74" clutch/transmission/starter assembly. Altering the Sportster mills to remove the trannies HAD to be one of THE most daunting parts of the build! Today's builders have a way to go to match this level of creativity!Thanks again for the DropBox info!Leo
