Hello and thank you
I have GY6 150cc 2010 with 777 miles.
When I ride the scooter and release the throttle, the engine goes...putt putt putt as the rpm reaches idle. It is like as the engine tries to return the idle it wants to die but it slowly recovers to normal idle. Now after 30 minutes of riding, this goes away. The next time I ride it, it does the same thing.
It does not matter if engine is cold, summer or winter..same issue.
Please help ..what do you think.

Could the engine be backfiring, and therefore, signaling that the air/fuel is too lean? Adjust your air/fuel mixture accordingly to see if it will go away.
Just a guess ...

Thank you Joaeu, the manual is a bit confusing. The problem goes away if I set the idling speed adjustment screw to 2000 RPM with the engine at normal operating temperature. If I set it any lower than this I get the chugging sound as if the engine is about to die or does eventually die as it returns to idle
Is the idle suppose to be 2000 RPM for idle with engine warm? Thank you all for your assistance. There is another section in the manual that states 1600, but this will give me issues with chugging.
Thank you in advanced

When your engine is cold, it's idle RPM is lower than when it's hot. You also might want to increase the idle a tiny bit if it's about to die. but first make sure the AF screw is adjusted correctly.

I think you're running it a little lean. I ride a 150cc Lance Venice, it's a 10" donut in retro style (aka BMS Romans, SSR Metro). When my scoot was running a little lean, I had to keep the idle at 1800-2100 RPM. Also, when it was running lean, when running at 50-75% throttle, I could feel at times the engine misfiring once or two.
I did swap carburetors, because I wanted to verify my backup one worked. I did adjust the Air-Fuel Screw again because it was another carburetor. I set the idle initially to 1440rpm, it has slowed down slowly down to 1280-1320, but sometimes it will also idle as low as 1200rpm. All without stalling at all.
My scoot only stalled one time, when for some reason, after stopping at a stop light, its idle speed was down all the way to 1000rpm, and right after that I tried to top the throttle up a little bit..

It is just a little on the RICH side turn the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE 1/4 CLOCKWISE at a time and try it if still give it another 1/4 turn Clockwise. That is why if you up the IDLE it helps it MORE AIR to match to much fuel.
Also when cold if the carb has a ENRICHER it will IDLE HIGH then within a few mintues as the ENRICHER warms up and extends out to shut off the extra fuel for cold starts the IDLE will come down. Alleyoop
