Rocketa MC-46-150: I just completed cleaning the carb and jets, engine idles good on the kickstand, but when I rapidly twist the throttle there is a significant hesitation before the engine catches up. Once engine catches up, then it is strong thru the remainder of the power band.
The fuel and vacuum lines are brand new. I plugged the vacuum line going to the charcoal ? cannister.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
thx jt

When you cleaned the carb did you take out the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE screw? If you it needs to be re-adjusted. Alleyoop

Thanks for the tips. Yes, I did an initial adjustment on the F/A Mixture screw, but then I reset it with the requisite, full -in clockwise then 2.25 turns counter-clockwise. The instructional feedback regarding the fine-tuning should help get the carb dialed in.
Still curious on the vacuum line set-up from the canister to the carb. For the time being, I have the cannister vac line plugged with a golf tee.

The scooter is on the dual point kick-stand:
Ive got the Fuel/air mixture set per the instructional guidance. Now, no combination of F/A settings or Idle adjustments on the Carb will make the rear wheel stop spinning while the motor is running.
When I tap the rear brake, the wheel stops and the motor immediately dies. I can adjust the idle screw low enough to make the wheel stop turning, but the motor dies about 2 nanoseconds after the wheel stops.
Ive tried all combinations of fuel/air and idle screw adjustments and nothing is working. IT's like the engine isnt from the drive train when the scooter slows down- this was the original problem. However, in the earlier scenarios, I was able to hold the brake and keep the throttle cracked to keep the engine running while slowing to a stop.
Still puzzled. Thx for any advice. jt

[replyingto=jskyking]jskyking[/replyingto]Did you have the variator apart,,sounds like might have a problem there,,I remember first time I took one apart and put it back together my back tire was like direct drive with motor,,i had to take the variator back apart and make sure to put it back together right way.

Check your clutch, it may be engaged all the time the pads may not be retracting maybe broken springs or something is not allowing them to retract and disengage the bell. Also like Jersey said take the CVT cover off and just look at the BELT. The Belt on the VARIATOR should be down and the belt in the CLUTCH should be near the top of the CLUTCH pulley. If the belt in the VARIATOR is high then take your variator and check the rollers they may be out of position sitting sideways and holding the Variator out. Alleyoop

Thanks for the input. I havent had the variator apart. Tomorrow, I will remove the CVT cover and examine the inner workings of the belt, clutch, and the clutch pulley. Just a thought, the throttle cable adjustment bracket assembly, with multiple carb installs and removals the assemble may have been moved one way or the other on the threads ( 1 or 2 max) Could this be a contributing factor? thanks again. jt
ps. is there any pics of what the CVT, belt, variator should look like?

Yes the throttle cable could already be pulling on the throttle. Make sure the throttle cable at the GRIP HAS about 1/4 inch of PLAY BEFORE it actually pulls on the Throttle cable. Give me a minute to get a pic of the CVT. Alleyoop
This is better a VIDEO.

Think of how a bicycle drive chain would look at the lowest possible gear(small in the front big in the back) that's how it should look.

Are you testing the scoot with the airbox and filter attached? are they clean , really clean? Also, check the spade clip to your coil, the vibration can cause intermittent spark. good luck!!!
