I have a Taotao 50cc/ I ordered a replacement for the stock carb, went on fine but the needle valve gets stuck open on this one as well. Question is what can I do about this to prevent it, short of walking the bike up my street, and is there a better carb that will not cost the price of the bike? ;D

[replyingto=davidworley16]davidworley16[/replyingto]Keihin makes a really nice affordable carb,,should not cost more than $50,,I would take that sucker apart and make sure the valve seat is really clean,,also make sure the needle is nice and polished on the end,,if there are any sharp edges it will hang up and carb will flood out.
You can try tapping on the bowl with a plastic screwdriver handle to free it up if your stuck somewhere,,that should get ya home.

Should be a simple fix. Replacing the carb because a $1 needle is sticking is strange to me. Take the carb off and remove the float work the needle in and out, is the action smooth? If not look in that passage and see why. Can you stop the flow through there by pushing it in? You can blow into the carb fuel inlet to check. Is this carb gravity fed or is there a pump??

Or is this the needle in the main jet. Maybe its the direction your throttle cable is pulling from...

Thanks This is what I figured,/ the carb is new, less than 50 miles. gravity fed. The stock carb did same thing once. I changed it out because I was afraid of running to hot. Hearing the jets might be to small and running lean. Coming up on valve adjust @ 500 mile. Oh and one more thing, the air fuel mix screw I was toying with on the intake manifold side, I ran it all the way in and the bike never cut off like I thought it should. Seems wrong from what I have seen here. Thanks for your time.
