What free derestrictions are there for the TaoTao ATM50-a1? I'm looking for some free/easy derestrictions for my gy6 TaoTao. 1. I've heard of removing the variator washer for the CVT. - How does this work? 2. I've also heard of exhaust derestriction - www.provoscooter.com/exhaust-derestriction - How does this work? 3. I've also seen this video for Carb derestriction - not too sure on this one - ever hear of it? Other than that are their any other free derestrictions I can do on this thing before buying a CDI box, etc? Thanks in advance.

I believe a 2012 model. I've noticed my friends dealer bought model is slightly faster compared to my model I ordered and assembled. I feel like there is some restrictions going on. I could be wrong.

www.scootnfast.com/scooter/Tuning_mods/De-Restricting.htm you may want to install a larger main jet and lighter slider weights instead of rollers . Change the oil and gear lube ASAP !! Any brand of 10w40 and GL5 which is 80w90 gear lube in the gears . Would be well worth it to replace the carb with one that is not sealed and can be tuned

I've replaced all the oil (gear and motor) even before I started the scooter, put in a new spark plug and it's been going good. I'll try some of the simple derestrictions to see how it works before I start putting money into this thing, then I'll probably get some pretty nice mods for it. If anyone has other useful links feel free to post them, anything helps!

Re-gap the spark plug (make the arm come a little closer to the center pin) Also fuel BP Premium fuel. Pump up the tires to at least 35PSI, 38PSI is best! Remove the trunk.
Changing the rollers to lighter ones is good advise. Changing it to sliders is even better advise.
Other than that, there's nothing really to de-restrict. You could put a 150cc performance exhaust muffler on there, but then you'll need to rejet.
Other than that, BBK is the way to go.
