I'm thinking about picking up a 2004 Lambretta Due50 and I am completely unfamiliar with them.
It's only got 900 miles on it, appears to be in like new condition and I think I can think the seller is going to let it go for $500... but I do have a one concern.
The seller thinks that it is "vapor locking" as it dies after about a mile or so...let it sit for a couple of minutes and it starts back up. I'm thinking it has to be something else. My concern is this... I'm having a hard time finding parts for this thing. Is the 50cc engine going to be "universal".. meaning am I going to be able to find Big Bore Kits, Exhausts, etc... for this thing? Does anyone know of a website that carries parts for these things?
It won't be a daily driver... more of a project/3rd scooter. My wife and I both have scooters and want to have an extra one for whenever her brother or my brother comes and stays with us. We need to stay with a 50cc, 'cause neither of them have an M/C endorsement.
Thanks in advance for any tips/advice. Kendall

open the fuel cap when it cuts out and see if it will fire up, then you will know if it is a simple vapor lock. Plugged or miss-routed line. Broken vacuum petcock.... Beyond that, I've no Lambretta knowledge.

[replyingto=scootnwinn]scootnwinn[/replyingto]NoNoNoNoNoNo.... Stella is not going anywhere (Thanks) project/3rd scooter. My wife and I both have scooters and want to have an extra one for whenever her brother or my brother comes and stays with us. We need to stay with a 50cc, 'cause neither of them have an M/C endorsement. It looks like it will fit the bill...I just don't want to buy anything that I won't be able to buy parts for or upgrade so that it will better keep up with the other 2 scoots.

scootnwinn - thanks for that link... at first glance, it looks like most "mechanical" parts are interchangeable with the Adly 50cc.

Yep that seems right. I was afraid there for a minute that I was going to lose the only other shifty dude on here. Its a solid 50 by all accounts. I see you are a Danzig or Samhain fan there, yes?

Could not bring my self to call it a Lambretta. He originally was asking $1250, but when I found out it was having problems running I told him that I liked it, but probably wouldn't want to get into it for more than $500 and to let me know if wanted to let it go for that; that was over a month ago... and last night I got an email asking me if I was still interested. Looks like it might be a neat little bike. Thanks for the info, K-

Yep, pretty much a fan of anything Glenn Danzig was a part of up until the mid 's. Love old Misfits stuff and his 1st Danzig album. Saw the sticker on eBay for $5 and couldn't pass it up. You a fan?

Back in my mohawk wearing punk days I was a huge fan. I'm not so evil anymore though. ;D Still like to hear an occasional Misfits song though, brings back a lot of memories... Cool you plan to de-Lambretta that thing though it may be a nice scoot and all it is not a Lambretta even though it is legally a Lambretta

I have read about Rocketas having a fuel cap issue . Does it have a JOG aka Minarelli engine ? I have no idea... hopefully, I hear from the seller today and he hasn't decided to back out. From the info everyone has given me, I feel pretty comfortable that I can get what ever parts I'll need for it pretty easily. Fingers crossed that I'll be picking it up tonight and then I'll find out which motor is in it. Grrr... work email won't let me look at it. I love the old Lambrettas... never see them around Tulsa.
