"but George clooney is one of those liberal..." If I boycotted the work of every every actor and musician I clashed with politically, I would have little left to enjoy. We must compartmentalize. Think yin and yang. I know what u mean. Some of these movies are very good . I still watch them , but it just do sent sit well with me. If I wasn't such a movie person , I wouldn't even think twice about not watching them.

One of the more unusual movies I have seen on DVD lately is "Welcome to Me". Kristen Wigg plays a girl with moderate mental issues. She can keep a job but not relationships. She wins the lottery, but spends it in a very unusual way. She basically pays a local TV station to allow her to host her own talk show every week. (She watches Oprah every day and hosting a similar show is her dream job). The talk show becomes very successful, eventually airing daily. Wigg eventually runs out of money, and her talk show ends, but local TV will never be the same. Worth a rental if you are looking for something different.

Saw "Mission Impossible, Rogue Nation". Worth seeing at the theater for the motorcycle chase. It's hard to make a good sequel, but this is a good one. You don't have to hear somebody ask "Where's the rabbit's foot" over and over.

Saw "Train Wreck". it was funny, but adult funny. Don't take your parents or kids to see it with you. LeBron was in the movie quite a bit. Amar'e and Marv Albert appeared as well. I'd wait for dvd or download.

Saw Man from U.N.C.L.E. Better than expected. Napoleon Solo rode a scooter a few times. See it at the theater if you like spy movies.

Saw Transporter Refueled. The 5th transporter movie, I think. Good movie, but it would have been better with Jason Stratham in it.

Saw "Bridge of Spies"with Tom Hanks. Very nostalgic for those of us the grew up in the Cold War. I think I was 30 when the Berlin wall came down. I knew that Gary Powers was shot down over the Soviet Union in a U-2 plane and imprisoned back in the 60s before I saw the movie. I did not remember what happened afterwards. See it at the theater if you are a history buff or spy movie fan. Otherwise, wait for the DVD or download.

Saw "Martian", with Matt Damon. It's like survivor man on Mars. Worth seeing at the theatre.

I saw the latest Star Wars at the theater. It was as good as the original SW movie. Worth a rental or download if you don't want to be seen at a Star Wars movie.

I agree that SW Force Awakens is quite good. Not the best sci-fi this year, not the best SW movie. But still quite good. Abrams remembered that we liked the original for the action, and the interaction between characters. Not the back stories and world-building and the oh-so-very-very-contrinved-and-forced interactions, and all the details that Lucas got too caught up with.
I talked with a young girl last night after the TSO concert--we adults had been talking SW. I asked her if she liked Jar-Jar. She got kinda bashful then nodded and said "Yeah I liked him." Of course, kids that age also think farts are funny. But just proves Jar-Jar was indeed for the kids. Just wish he could've been less slapstick and stupid and, well, pointless to the story so adults wouldn't mind him. You know, like C3PO--irritating for adults, but not excessively so.
Yeah, Abrams has made SW fun and enjoyable again.

Btb, I took my lightsaber to the movie. My niece LOVED it!
Question of the day (and my niece got this right, my nefs failed)--
Would 'Kat be a Jedi, or a Sith?

I was in Chattanooga when I saw SW Force Awakens. Nobody was in costume, but the audience was glued to the screen through most of the film. I have been to see some crappy sequels in the past few years, so I was pleasantly surprised by SW Force Awakens.

Saw The Revenant with Leonardo DeCapria. A lot of great acting, but not my kind of movie.

Hey 'bender, what's it about? I've seen the clip of him running up the creek while riders seem to chase him on the shores. But I've heard nothing on what the story is.

I thought it was mostly about the hardships faced by the British, French and native Americans as they sought pelts in the west. The plot was about survival and revenge. Not a mood lifter.
