While riding I notice as I got the scooter up to 55-60 it would be at just about 8k rpms. Is this normal for a 150cc?

Well my top speed on a flat is 57-58 according to my gps,and my rpms are at 7340,so 8k might be a tad high, that's with 14 gram rollers,

I have ~7,2k RPM @~63MPH tops. 8k is about 500RPM in the high range. Optimally you'd be going ~63MPH @ ~7500RPM, right in the torque band. If that where the case, most likely you'd be able to go ~65MPH.
Your scooter's top speed is lower because you could up the gearing by 1 setting (taller gears in this case means lower RPM, and lower acceleration, but faster top speed).

150cc RPMs?

The gear is in the rear end. PITA to change. I'd just play with variator weights if I was you. It's cheaper and less work.

The rollers/ variator is already maxed out at top speed. If you're not into tuning, then just fuel up with BP Premium. These bikes run lean, and BP Premium fuel will get more out of your engine.

150cc RPMs?

On the Znen: I added a small engine hour meter so I would have some dort of tach. 60 on my speedometer is about 53 tops via GPS. I get up to 8500 on a downhill. May loose 1300RPM climbing the next hill, which means my speed is way down, like below 40
On the Xingyue, I managed 66MPH down a huge hill with a tailwind, and I was just over 10k RPM. Usually running mid 7k at a little over 50mph.
